Question for you TKD, and Karate people
Shotokan_Fighter replied to Xerziz's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
see theres a difference from me and you kyle san and other ppl that WERE in shotokan karate and QUIT. im not going to quit shotokan karate, i will never go to another style. i will proove that shotokan karate is that damn good, im different than most shotokan karate kas, i eat sleep and breath shotokan karate, most ppl arnt like me and that is what makes me good, im not saying im the best, but i have that attitude. I know im not the best, but i will try to be. Im going to start going to major MA tournements when i am a 3rd kyu black belt, and show the ppl there what i can really do. If i fail or not thats not what i am worring about now, im training for that moment, and when that day comes i will be ready. -

good article -
how are you guys setting up your makiwara board? iv just got one about a week ago and iv been trying to think of a way to set it up so i can use it. iv herd of the one where you put it in the ground on a big board, i seen that on 24fightingchickens.com. or do any of you put it right on the wall? what do you guys do. i really wanna put that up so this would help thanks
-
to me only haveing 3 to 4 sparring combos is better than having 6 or more beacuse then you dont have to think about what ones your gonna do. if you only have like 3 its easyer to choose between them. Me i have only 4 combos i use for offensive attackes but i usually dont attack all the time, so when i do its fast, strong and suprising. the opponet dosent see whats coming.

Question for you TKD, and Karate people
Shotokan_Fighter replied to Xerziz's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
id welcom a jujitsu fighter to fight me. for the most id try to keep off the ground, and keep where ill destroy him, on my feet. if i keep off the ground there not gonna stand a chance against me, but if i do get taken to the ground, i am pretty skilled on the ground myself, we dont train alot of groundfighting in my class, but i do have some skill on the ground, enouph to get myself back on my feet. -

What are you working on now?
Shotokan_Fighter replied to tommarker's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i am training hard on my reverse punch, i want it to me my trademark move, my one hit one kill move, and i will. -
do any of you put drive into your reverse punch? we are taught to drive into our reverse punch, driving puts alot more power into your reverse punch and it gives you better reach. are you guys taught to be loose and then tighten at the end of your punch? i hope most of you are cause it helps out alot.

iv never herd of that

false, where did you hear this?

Shotokan karates fantastic four are the front snap kick, side thrust kick, back thrust kick, and the round kick. i read this article about this and gichin funakoshi was talking about these four kicks, shotokans fantastic four. he developed these kicks for one reason only, for fighting. He developed these kicks beacuse they work, he also talked about "flashy" kicks and why they dont work. He said "what happens when you jump around and kick in the air, you get hit"

kicking with the ball of your foot or the instep?
Shotokan_Fighter replied to Shotokan_Fighter's topic in Karate
what i was trying to say about toe kicking is when your barefooted i think its useless and to dangerous for your toes. my sensei tells us that to kick with the tip of our shoes (toes) in a street fight beacuse you cant use the ball of your foot, but with out shoes on id prefer to kick with the ball of my foot. -
shotochem wrote mine to man, id be afraid to hit someone in a street fight with my hardest reverse punch, beacuse i would seriously hurt someone. that is no joke at all, i am serious. I am a strong person naturally and i weight lift so i am a strong person. In shotokan karate i have developed so much power in all my techniques, especially my reverse punch.
