Shotokan_Fighter replied to Shotokan_Fighter's topic in General Chat
i agree with you crazy rocker marine corp boot camp is the toughest you can get but think about a navy corpsman they have to go through the navys boot camp and the marine corps boot camp them guys are some tough men -
TJS wrote man you dont know what you are talking about it you think karate only works if you suprise someone. karate is ment for head on fighting. karate isnt that good if you are blindsided attacked there are 2 different types, duel that is where you are challanged and you can get ready to fight that is where shotokan karate works best. suprise attacked is the other one that is where you are attacked from behind that is where karate wont work that well and no MA probably will

do you guys agree with me on this that karate has to come natural in a fight. my karate class had a big talk on that and my sensei says karae has to come natural in a fight if you think about using karate in a fight you have lost the fight. do any of you agree?

im a 3rd kyu brown belt in shotokan karate
-
you cant join shotokan or prolly any stle of karate and expect to know how to fight in 2 weeks or 2 months you wont know enouph to fight in the street if you do fight you will loose. shotokan takes time to learn i think its better to take the time and learn basics after basics instead of going straight to learn how to fight. practice makes perfect you have to know basics and kata helps alot on your basics and form thats why shotokan is so up on kata. when you get to a green belt you start to learn power sped and ect. green is considered mid leval you start to spar you may spar earlyer also but when you get in purple brown belts is when your good. that is where im at 3rd kyu brown and i have come along way. i have developed so much power shotokan is all about power its a very powerfull style. but it takes time years of time to get good to beable to fight. shotokan teaches you to be a fighter and you will become one just stick with it. remember all shotokan karate kas karate has to come natural in a fight if it dosent you have lost the fight.
