  5. Tripod.com offers a good site building tool to help you build your site and it can be free. I pay a very small amount monthly for my own domain name, etc., and I have had great success with it.
  6. It appears the ranking system you posted covers the nine gups to Black Belt so regardless of the color it should be compatible with most TKD schools, tournaments, etc. The half-ranking thing can be beneficial to youngsters due to physical and emotional development issues so I wouldn't worry unless kids are being promoted without the skills or just to collect testing fees.
  7. The chances of getting a DVT increase with ANY extended sedentary period, whether lying, riding in the car, or being a couch potato! You can minimize the risk by doing calf and leg exercises while seated to keep the blood flowing. Standing occasionally and walking a bit may also help.
  8. You can't compare the abilities of a 75 year old to those of an 18 year old. That said, there are some things that stay consistent: target areas (centerline), proper technique (not based on speed or height), and attitude and work ethic. Agreed. While there is a set standard, students must be evaluated individually to take into account qualities other than physical ones.
  9. Never have, never will. My physiology is just not compatible.
  10. I always wash new colored belts before wearing to class with cold water and vinegar. It sets the color in so it doesn't rub off.
  11. Nice form. I would enjoy learning it. The kid doing Tae baek was good-I too do it differently...the moves are the same but the flow is much different.
  12. And a rash of carpal tunnel syndromes!!!!
  13. I practice the Chang 'on forms system (ITF style). Gae Baek is my 2nd dan form. The twist kick may also be called and inverted round kick. Does Gae Baek have a twist kick in it???????? Just curious as I presumed Tae Baek was the same form and it does not....unless I am really missing something!!!
  14. In my experience the japanese pronouce each vowel as it is written (in most cases) so seeing it written down should help you. I know.....read the books Laurie!!!!!
  15. Philosophy envelops our entire curriculum...and integral part of the system. In fact every art I have studied has been the same way...hmm, could there be a pattern emerging here???
