Herb Nye-my first TSD instructor inspired me to face my fears and continue on the journey. Ernie Reyes Sr.-inspired me to master my fears and become the best person (and martial artist) that I can be. It is his influence that gives me the passion to put others on the path and guide them in their journeys.

How about Yoshimishinki Ryugi Ju Jitsu? One of those 1700 different JJ styles mentioned by Kyle-San!!!

What are you working on now?
ninjanurse replied to tommarker's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Well, I have been very busy cramming new curriculum for a test in October. I recently started at a new school and was allowed to keep my former rank, however I have had to learn all new forms from white belt to 2nd degree black. 15 of them...plus the step-sparring and self defense! In addition there is a whole new school protocol and set of rules to get used to. I am also trying to get back into shape so I don't die at the test !!!! Right now I have two forms left to learn, both of them are chinese forms- Pao Chuen and Koon Shu 2. -
Telsun, Yeshua (Jesus) is God in human form , sent to dwell with us, to live among us, to offer us salvation from our sins. He sacrificed His life as the final offering-so that we could be forever cleansed as long as we believed in Him. Believing this and inviting Him into your heart so that you can be freed from the bondage of earthly sin is all that is required to become a "christian". This however is only the first step in developing a relationship with Him. Study and fellowship with other "christians" is not a requirement but is helpful as they have been on the journey longer and can guide you, give you support, answer questions, etc. Prayer can offer guidance in choosing what direction to go-and there aren't any prerequisites to worry about. Sounds like your sensei could be a great resource and inspiration for you!

2 hours!!!!!! Your lucky Sai. For me 5-10 minutes max!!!!!!

I do not believe that the standards or requirements should be changed for women in any way. If they want the job they should have to be able to perform it as well as the next guy. If they can't then they don't deserve to be there. Period.

Sounds like your diet s***s!!!! Especially for someone with low blood sugar! If you have the reactive type your body dumps insulin when you eat foods high on the glycemic index and your blood sugar drops. Bananas and Mars bars are VERY high on the glycemic index therefore not a good thing to eat unless you balance it out with protein. Also, if you drink a lot of milk you could be anemic, especially if you don't get any iron in your diet from the foods you are eating. Your thyroid could also be low which can also make you lethargic. In short... see a doctor to find out what's up!!!

Why wouldn't you believe him? If you had all day to train why couldn't you get all that done? Does it sound too tough to you and that is why you doubt? I had a sensei that trained like that in Hawaii every day. I know how much can be accomplished in even 1 or 2 hours if you have the proper mindset. Me, I have only a few hours a day in my busy schedule to train. Minimally, I run 3 miles, do strength training, stretch, run through all kata & curriculum 2-3 times physically, then another 1-2 times mentally to wind down and go to sleep. Pretty basic but it works!

"Wife Beaters" is a term that came out of the fact that mexican gangs wear them as part of their "uniform" and they take great pride in being dominant over their women. Don't take this to mean that I am racist-as this is a racist stereotyping of mexicans-I am just relating historical info.

I've had the same problem. I have found that over time (and many washings) they tend to wrinkle less but usually I had to hang dry them to avoid having to iron...and boy do I hate to iron!!!

Somehow it just all comes together when it needs to, although I will say that there are days when I am butt-busted tired after working an ER shift and then teaching on the slopes for 5 hours! Oh poor me....hah!!!!!!!

I am an RN and work in an Emergency Room. I love my job because I get to talk to and influence people in a positive manner everyday...just like my other jobs as a martial arts instructor and snowboarding instructor! I would love to have my own martial arts school someday but then I wouldn't have enough time for snowboarding and nursing....what a dilema!!!!!!

ninjanurse replied to Shotokan_Fighter's topic in Karate
It is good to train both as they each have their advantages and optimal targets. -

I got into the martial arts in HS because I didn't play well with others! I needed to find something to do where I wouldn't get compared to others and it wasn't a popularity contest to get picked to play. Something that catered to my obsessive/perfectionist nature and that allowed me to compete with myself on the level I chose-not someone else. Something that would force me to interact and boost my self-confidence. I took it on as a personal challenge to overcome what I thought were negative qualities that held me back in life. Along the way I learned alot about myself and how to use those seeemingly "negative" qualities to my advantage. I gained self-confidence, self reliance, and most of all self respect.

I agree with Telsun that it can vary by dojo but I think generally either style should give you the opportunity for a great workout but remember, either way, you will only get out of it what you put in. I would visit a few schools and observe their classes. Also take a look at their Dan holders-what kind of shape are they in?

When I was younger I liked hard wood but now that I am older I appreciate a well padded gymnastics floor or short carpet. I also love to train outside in the early morning dew during the summer!

Thank you. No, I haven't but you never know what the future holds.
