  1. I believe the no touch KO is a myth, at worst a joke. Iron Shirt and Iron Palm Qi gong though are very real.
  2. The Sweet Chariot was crushed and the Dragon Roars! Wales 30 - England 3 What a victory! Wales haven't put England in their place so soundly for years! It was very physical, the dominance in the scrum and up front was a psychological blow England didn't recover from. The Welsh backs finished the job to the loudest ovation Cardiff has ever heard. Da iawn Hogia, Arbennig!!
  3. This is a difficult question; Real Iron shirt training is hard to find, at least here in the West. To find a master willing to teach it is harder still. It's a form of Hard Qi Gong that takes years to even dream of testing. Good luck in your search, let us know if you find what you are looking for; I for one would be interested.
  4. I like the Haishu uke at the start, the Bunkai shows that the gedan cosa te that follows is no kick block but a wrist lock take down. There is a neck break after the first empi uchi and the elbow joint break before the next mae geri is really cool. Remember to protect your radial pressure point in each of the chudan uke, then also the double empi uchi after tearing off the opponent's ears (!), a good shuto uke to finish and you are done. I think it's a great Kata.
  5. I'm learning the Shukokai Pinan Yondan now. I think it's the best so far in this style.
  6. My Sensei would simply grade you, if you passed you would wear your belt, if you fail, you wear a white one until you pass. Elementary!
  7. I studied Jiu Jitsu by a student Sensei for six months, interesting for a time at least.
  8. I have over 20 years of MA experience, but then only some.
  9. Happy Birthday! Have a great time!!
  10. Please don't drink energy drinks to train, I know people do but if drinks contain caffeine or worse you could suffer heart failure as you heart rate is synthetically increased.
  11. :Pure Water, that's all the body requires to flush out toxins and hydrate. Cheaper too.
  12. I would definitely recommend a simple makiwara, you don't have to hit it hard; just focus and use it often.
  13. I always rolled shoulder to hip, as taught in Aikido.
  14. Karate, Wing Chun, Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Karate, Kobudo, Karate. Thankfully I've only had to defend myself in a real situation once, used my breath to invoke enough energy to punch and strike my way to survival. I'm alive because of my training.
  15. Yes, this is the most popular/generic one available. I have a Wing Chun sand bag filled with beans on the wall; does the same trick.
  16. I will try to remember that my Yums are sometimes Yucks to many and that it is not always Yummy in this World of Expanding Tummies. Thanks.
  17. I've said it here before, and it still rings true; A Tiger fears the Power of his enemy - The Dragon only fears what his own Power can do.
  18. The classic makiwara is made of wood and rope. These days it consists of a striking surface that can be wall mounted or free standing. It needs to be tough but it also needs to have some give while it conditions your knuckles.
  19. I did 15 mins on the bike, 15 mins walking up an incline on the treadmill, 3 sets of 12 on the press machine and 10 mins on the rower followed by 5 mins cool down. That's my typical CV gym session. Not bad for an aging Karateka.
  20. Sounds like a good plan, well done. I love Shotokan, we have a top level club or two in our area. I really admire their commitment.
  21. You may give this a try, I hope it helps. http://www.egka.org.uk/glossary.php
  22. I'm not a Christian, but many of my friends are. My favorite quote is; "Do unto others then run away!"
