  1. Chokes like the rear naked are pretty wicked but they are pretty hard to slap on, and they can be defended pretty easily. But once you get it on its awesome.
  2. The Aikido people at my school wear "Jukado" gi's, as do some of the BJJ people, check them out.
  3. Found this straight from Mr. Royce Gracie himself. "there are a few things you can do. first off its hard to go with a guy that is 100lbs heavier then you and has a good base, like Judo guys do. If the guy just pin you down and is not doing anything, then you do not do anything either. You can say to him, hey buddy you want to train, or just hold me down, because if you just want to hold me down, you are doing a great job, but what now. Otherwise, try to play the top game, do not play guard, try to get the back or mount, or just play the top position. also if you are going to your back, do not let the guy pin both of your sholders down, while the guy is in transition, try to get an angle on him, easier to get out. "
  4. I do about 30 minutes, sometimes an hour.
  5. Just work the submissions from your guard, like a arm bar from the guard or a gi choke.
  6. Im in the about the same boat as you, im 5'9 and I float between 135 and 140 pounds. That being said you just have to be the agressor, usually when I spar (starting from knee's) I will mini-sweep from the knee's and hop right into the mount. If I know Im really in for it I just pull guard.
  7. Eat in class, sheesh.
  8. The RNC i.e. Rear Naked Choke. There's nothing like feeling your opponent weaken in your arms.
  9. A fellow Winnipeg'er! Fricken weather.
  10. Get some ankle weights and practice putting it on with them on, get flexible, hold the arm in tight, if its not working go to arm bar.
  11. hahah I cracked up reading the topic before I entered the thread.
  12. I dont know about everyone else but personally I am sick of you always comparting Muay Thai to anything and everything else in a superior fashion.
  13. If he falls on you it shouldnt be a problem to roll him over onto his back.
  14. White Belt - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
  15. Says the guy lifts his leg, with your leg opposite of the kicking or raised leg you would hook your foot around the back of his ankle bring it up to you, grab it, put your other leg behind him and fall with you mounting him.
