  1. I have been practicing different martial arts for 4 years and am OK at a variety of things. I have chosen to start kuk sool won and try to go up in belt ranks and try to get a black belt. I bought the basics and white belt dvd from master sims and going to practice that on my own for months before I start doing personal training from someone that lives an hour away so i can get used to it and learn a little before i start spending money. I will practicing on my own and would like to find someone that does kuk sool won to view my videos of what im doing on my own to see if its right. Anyone that could check them out as i go to verify they are pretty correct please comment and ill tell you my youtube channel it will probley be a while before i start posting vids but i would realy appreciate it.
  2. I was wondering if someone would post a tutorial and demonstration of all the breaks you can perform in kuk sool won up the black belt. Im training on my own and would like to see the way the breaks are set up and how to break. I know the first is with a palm strike and then one belt you have to do a single spin kick and break 2 boards and all that but i wanted to see the positions which to do it from so i can try it on my own. I was in karate and broke boards but i needed to know how to break for this korean martial art. Thank you for any comment and i would appriate anyone that post a video.
  3. yes ive seen this before they show the applications very well
  4. I just know things hold stonger toward the middle and weaker at the ends because it puts more pressure i think so i didnt know if they expect people to fill it up with 10's since if your doing alot of weight they might think you might use the 25's 35's and 45's
  5. I bought a curl bar for $20 that is supposed to hold 200 pounds of weight and i put about 135 on it max so far for barbell bent over row. I bought 12 10 pound weights 8 5 pound weights 4 7.5 pound weights and 4 2.5 pound weights. The question i have is if it holds 200 pounds they probably assume you are using the high weights like 25 35 and 45 pounds and the pressure is put more together to the center. The question I have is if i fill the entire bar or how much i use with 10's is it considered 200 pound max safly or less. because if i put 6 10's on both sides the weight distributes over the entire bar and since it would probley put alot more pressure on the ends would it break or bend with less weight that way?
  6. I was wondering private instruction is around 80-120 an hour but how fast do you progress with private lessons. There are not that many belts in kuk sool i was wondering how many hours of private lesson along with training at home for each belt and how many hour to black belt?
  7. Thanks for the support I was just wondering how these little not very muscular looking guys bench more than me. Im not unmotivated just confused about it. Im pretty muscular looking
  8. I was competly inactive pretty much my whole life and started doing martial arts when I was 16. I went on a lifting spree for 6 months and doubled my lifting weight on everything and got pretty stacked for the way i was before in only 6 months. I could only bench 120 once now I can bench around 135 or so once I just dont understand why i cant bench that much im 5 9 22 and pretty average but ive seen small people like me bench 180 pounds i just dont understand here is how much i lift on my excercises and could you share what you think is the deal? Chest- Chest press 50x8 60x3 Shoulder-Dumbell military press 28x6 Tricep-tricep extensions 18x12 Back-Bent over barbell row 85x10 Bicep-Barbell medium curl 65x4
  9. I want to buy a camera/camcorder to make martial art videos. I always get one that lags on my nunchaku and stuff like that because of the realy fast motions. I want a camcorder that can pick up even the smallest things and good frame rate a quality. I want to find one around 100 so im having a hard time because i dont know what has good frame rate. Anyone that knows one around that price please share or give me some advice i dont know anything about it
  10. so you think the 2-5 is probley the best choice. I like doing powerlifting its not as long as body building or strength training.
  11. If i lift weights with kickboxing will that make my strikes harder and benifit or will it slow me down and make me lose technuiqe. I was wondering if i should do powerlifting 1 to 5 reps or strength training 6 to 8 which will let me keep good form but make me stronger and a better figher
  12. I played a arcade machine called the boxer where you strike it and it measures how hard you hit. I was going to post my score and ask what is ok. At about 3 months of martial art training I could only hit about 230 when I was 155 lbs and 18 and after about a year I could hit about 360 at 160 lbs and about a year later then max I could hit was 420 at 165 before you laugh about how i dont hit that hard I wanted to say I didnt do anything active my entire life. I started lifting weights and doubled my lifting weight I was wondering at currently 179 how hard I could hit. Any guess advice on hard I hit when I was small and what is average pretty good and realy hard for my size.

  20. Hi my name is chris and i have been practicing martial arts for around 4 years or so now off and on. I have been to a dojo for Kempo shorin ryu and gung fu and have studied after leaving the dojo the fighting styles Kyokushin, xing yi and I bought dvds and starting training in shotokan. I have enjoyed learning a bit from all the arts and learning the diffrences and simularities of each. i love the simpicity of shotokan but couldnt find a direct style to practice. I am taking up kickboxing and training on my own learning the technuiqes and practicing on my bag. I think this is great to learn cause it is universal to almost all the styles in some way. Well I was just making this post to let yall know what im doing and your opinion and I wont be in any kickboxing matches but I dont think that matters much im still going to compete in martial art tournements
  21. Thank you i am very glad you answered ive been waiting a while to figure out
