  1. I live in the greater Vancouver area...a large city...we have pretty much everything around here....traditional MA to NHB fighting...and everything in between... YS
  2. I think the standup/ground fighting has always been well...turns you into a well rounded fighter...could always add in a weapons art if you really wanted... ex. kickboxing/BJJ that is what I take... I'm just beginning, but wanna do it right.. YS
  3. Ya...I think taekwondo is a little more 'flashy' with stuff like that... YS
  4. you really put him to sleep??? hahaha...well enough said. you proved him wrong that guy must have been embarresed as heck!! good stuff!!! i like reading stories like this..as for people like that...my advice is just to laugh it off...if there resisting or saying i can do this and that say ok...but if they wanted to spar, like your guy did, then do your stuff...then when he wakes up and asked what just happened tell him he beat you and walk away all mad...he will be confused...lol..damn that is funny what you did!! but somtimes just swallow your pride and laugh it off...it's no big deal...
  5. Keep going till you find one..and just don't grade for your next belt and save the $50..then when you find one you like, start that one but like I said, keep going until you find one you are really happy with. since you already paid...might as well get some exercise, even though it isn't the best around. thats just my opinion...
  6. can you fill me in one the difference between gold and single? I am going to be buying a new gi in the next week or two...and want to get the best and most practical...thanks! YS
  7. can't say that I have...my g/f right now isn't even interested in MA...oh well... YS
  8. yes..size matters... would your rather kicked a side kick to the ribs from a 160 pound person with 25 years experience, or would you rather get side kicked in the ribs by someone who is 230 pounds with 20 years martial arts experience...and I mean fit..rather then some fat 230 pound slob.. I know I would take the kick some the slim 160 pound fellow... size matters... it's not everything...but plays a roll..
  9. As long as instruction is good...I don't see any problems...hopfully you will have access to punching bags, focus mits etc. good luck!!! YS
  10. Heya! I think there is an introduction forum though??? oh well...welcome!!! YS

  14. Nice!!! I got a little room in my house for myself also. Just has a heavybag and thats it. I wish I had a place to grapple...lol... YS
  15. I'd say you did right. But in my opinion, if he started to follow me (and was behind me) I could have given him a quick side kick to the solar-plexis, then a quick knee to his face, and then RUN!! Cause he could have 10 of his 'homies' around the corner watching. YS
  16. I gree. Muscle-Tech is a bad company. Maybe there products are 'decent' but not worth the price. You can get equal quality/if not better, with other manufactures. YS
  17. I have used it in the past. I would say it is 1 of the top 3 best OTC supps to buy, along with glutamine and protein powder. Take 20 grams everyday for the first 7 days (called loading faze) then after that, continue with 10 grams a day for as long as you like. Remember to divide your dosages up throughout the day @ 5 grams each. Its good stuff
  18. Sounds like you spend a fair bit of money on supps As for everyone else, thanks for your respsonse. YS
