Try and go watch as much as you can..I know it is time consuming...but watch, and see which intructors stand out to you...there should be at least one..and then talk to him/her and see what there all about...also, talk to some of the other parents who are they with there children and get there feedback...since they were probably once in your shoes... Driving Problem
yellowsnow replied to Smarter Child's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
well carpool or getting a ride by your parents/and or older friends/family/sibblings would be the only way, since you said you cannot ride a bike, or take a bus since it is too late..and a cab would probably be to expensive...your shootin down all the ways and running out of options.. YS -
Will Submission Fighting ever make money?
yellowsnow replied to Severe Matburn's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
I don't think it would be such a big thing...like what Molson Style said, people get bored watching just submission fighting...people wanna see standup striking, or at least striking on the ground...thats just my 2cents. YS -
yup, what everyone else said..find a gym that has NHB fighting with some good instructors who have made a decent name for themselves and have connections... YS

How much $ for classes and contract questions
yellowsnow replied to Dekan's topic in Instructors and School Owners
I pay $120 a month for 2 1 hour kickboxing classes and 1 1.5 hour class of jiu-jitsu...plus another drop in jiu-jitsu class on sundays for $15 which costed me $100 dollars registration for that club...this is in Canadian dollars.. YS -

Positive Reinforcement Vs. Punishment
yellowsnow replied to koreantiger81's topic in Instructors and School Owners
In a way your right...I do not have children, but if I did, you can damn well gurantee any teacher that decided to 'paddle' my kid, would be in for a world of pain..no matter what he did...It would be my responsibility to disipline my child, and teach him to be good and avoid getting in trouble. Maybe it's the parents that need a 'paddling' somtimes...lol... YS -

Our head instructor JUST got his 3rd degree in kickboxin...he never runs our classes though which pisses me off...somtimes we even have an orange belt run our class, which she is only 1 belt above me!!! another month or two and I will be in her class..this makes me really upset when she teaches. I think I have only been taught by our head instructor maybe 2 times which sucks. I will be starting a new BJJ class next week which the instructor is a 6th degree black under the gracies, and he runs every single class of his. I am really excited about that. my school confuses me somtimes... YS

bjj question
yellowsnow replied to jiu-jitsu fighter's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I don't think anyone below a really advanced blue or purple belt should be performing leg locks or heel locks whatever at full speed while rolling...too dangerous... also, what do you consider advanced??? YS
