  1. Try and go watch as much as you can..I know it is time consuming...but watch, and see which intructors stand out to you...there should be at least one..and then talk to him/her and see what there all about...also, talk to some of the other parents who are they with there children and get there feedback...since they were probably once in your shoes... YS
  2. well carpool or getting a ride by your parents/and or older friends/family/sibblings would be the only way, since you said you cannot ride a bike, or take a bus since it is too late..and a cab would probably be to expensive...your shootin down all the ways and running out of options.. YS
  3. I don't think it would be such a big thing...like what Molson Style said, people get bored watching just submission fighting...people wanna see standup striking, or at least striking on the ground...thats just my 2cents. YS
  4. yup, what everyone else said..find a gym that has NHB fighting with some good instructors who have made a decent name for themselves and have connections... YS
  5. Ask your instructor?!?!? YS
  6. nice...keep us updated!! YS
  7. it can be good...i dunno YS
  8. good luck! YS
  9. I'm not..I have pretty much only 1 friend that I hang out with outside of class...I have known him for maybe 6-7 years now..waaaay before I started MA..lol...he got me into it again...but no, my dojo doesn't seem to be close...at least not with me or my bud...lol... YS
  10. I pay $120 a month for 2 1 hour kickboxing classes and 1 1.5 hour class of jiu-jitsu...plus another drop in jiu-jitsu class on sundays for $15 which costed me $100 dollars registration for that club...this is in Canadian dollars.. YS
  11. bring somone.. YS
  12. Thats a good story!!! I love hearing about stuff like that! YS
  13. I would train to the best of your ability...So what if you can't go 100%...no big deal. Still try to do your best...always! YS
  14. In a way your right...I do not have children, but if I did, you can damn well gurantee any teacher that decided to 'paddle' my kid, would be in for a world of pain..no matter what he did...It would be my responsibility to disipline my child, and teach him to be good and avoid getting in trouble. Maybe it's the parents that need a 'paddling' somtimes...lol... YS
  15. Vancouver, British Columbia... YS
  16. Our head instructor JUST got his 3rd degree in kickboxin...he never runs our classes though which pisses me off...somtimes we even have an orange belt run our class, which she is only 1 belt above me!!! another month or two and I will be in her class..this makes me really upset when she teaches. I think I have only been taught by our head instructor maybe 2 times which sucks. I will be starting a new BJJ class next week which the instructor is a 6th degree black under the gracies, and he runs every single class of his. I am really excited about that. my school confuses me somtimes... YS
  17. I would learn some basic groundwork and sprawling before entering a NHB fight. just like everyone else said, a decent grappler will take you down without much effort... YS
  18. I don't understand the lingo either!! YS
  19. what kind of fight was it? full contact? pads etc?? just curious... YS
  20. I believe judo has more standup with joint locks and throws while BJJ is pretty near all ground fighting while trying to submit.. YS
  21. I don't think anyone below a really advanced blue or purple belt should be performing leg locks or heel locks whatever at full speed while rolling...too dangerous... also, what do you consider advanced??? YS
