  1. Welcome Fearun9033, Nice to see someone from my home town.
  2. Season 1 is out for Human Weapon. I was wondering if any one has seen this? I was going to download it but wanted to know if it was any good first. thanks
  3. Hi Eric and welcome.
  4. Personally I would not worry about it. On this everyone is going thier own view. I know our kids have a white strip which would make them an advanced white belt. In the long run it's just a belt to hold your gi together.
  5. I believe it is the benefits of Martial Arts and not so much the art it self that contributes to happiness. Increased Health and Wellness coupled with more energy to enjoy other things in your life like you wife, children etc. An improved self esteem to help deal the more unpleasant things that life constantly throws our way. Being around people who share similar interests can create some great friendships and a family atmosphere. Theses are just my top benefits that I feel make me happy.
  6. As a joke I was going to say Lawyers but thought I might offend someone. I think the greatest example of a Martial Arts charlatan would have to be Grand Master Simon of Temple King Fu. I was once young and Naive.
  7. You can lift your legs with bench press to get a core workout.
  8. Haha Chitsu, If I could I would be more than happy to fly you here. Of course I wouldn't do it during the winter but in the summer. That way I could take you hiking in the mountians. Best work out you'll ever have. You could hold your seminar in the brisk mountian air a few thousand feet higher than normal. Just to fulfill my own curiosity where do you train?
  9. Seems to ring true. I'm starting to feel the results form all these push ups. The squats are coming along nicely as well. The mental challenge is there for sure. But the nice thing is you have a clear goal so you want to achive it. You know how many you have to do and you do them. So far it is going well. Won't know if it really works for another 3 weeks or so.
  10. So it seems you won't be able to attend one of Iain Abernethy's seminars, Jeffrey, as I see that you yourself will be teaching. Well, it's a good reason, as you'll be sharing your MA knowledge. I've been in the martial arts for just the past two years, so I've attended only two seminars, the first one in Jeet Kune Do and the second in Soo Bahk Do. Since I'm a single parent, I have to look for what's nearby, as these two were. I really enjoyed them. I guess seminars re-invigorate interest in your own art (in my case SBD) or one that you've explored (JKD). No I will not be teaching. It was the copy and paste from Ian's site for his visit to Canada. So yes I'm considering attending but teaching is way out of my league. Only a Green belt here so maybe in another 10 years. It should be an interesting clinic. You'll have to let me know how yours goes since you'll be attending first. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
  11. Ok Gary I got the month wrong. One of our other clubs tries to get Ian in at least once a year. They were taking about March and after checking I guess he is coming in May. 14th to 23rd of May - Canada From the 14th to the 23rd of May I’ll be teaching a series of seminars in Canada! This will be my 3rd visit to Canada and I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again. More details will be released soon, but these are the dates and locations: Southern Ontario – May 14-16 / Edmonton – May 17-20 / Calgary – May 21-23. I hope to see you there! Please find it in your heart to to forgive me Jeffrey
  12. Good Job and Congrats.
  13. Hi Mitch and good luck on your grading.
  14. Hi Chris and welcome.
  15. $15.00 to cover the cost of Obi.
  16. Ab work out 100 crunches 5 min plank 200 leg raises 100 side crunches 250 squats double punch with weights. 5 x 1 min holding boat. Worked on Pinan shodan and Nidan.
  17. Monday and Thursdays for 2 hours at Karate and Wednesday with my old KF club for a couple of hours. Wednesday is mostly for the work out. I think you had asked how often do we practice. I think I could safely say I go to class twice a week but I practice 5 days a week. Some weeks I get more from the practice out side of class. Just able to take my time to pick on certain items that need work.
  18. The only one that has come lately was the Ninja Assassin movie. If you were a Matrix fan this one would be a good see. Lots of blood so if you have a weak stomach it may not be for you.
  19. Yes Sperki, Anything you do must have a cardio attached to it along with a balanced diet. Skipping rope is a great cardio work out for those of us that get stuck in doors during the winter months. A brisk walk or and light run goes far to gaining a greater fittness level.
  20. I live in northern Canada so we get the four season. Right now it is -20C and cold. I don't mind the weather but I wait ever year for spring to get out run a few km to work off the winter padding.
  21. So what are the benfits to doing body weight training. Just wondering as I thought about going this route. I have one of those Total Gyms I use 2-3 days a week also.
  22. I so sympathize with Mr. Owens trying to turn his life around you do need to have proper clearances. These are in place to protect everyone involved including the instructor.
  23. I was hoping the age thing didn't play a role. It's just the past year I've been back into it. I took a 15 year break and praticed my butt sitting skills.
  24. Hard works always pays off. Congrats.
  25. Nice job and congrats.
