Thanks still kicking, I think USA played some damn good hockey. Miller is one amazing goalie. I think he should get some MVP award just for his efforts. Over all I really enjoyed watching all the games. There is nothing wrong with 2nd place...ever. Did you do your best? That is all the really matters. For me it's always been about "did you have fun?" I coach hockey and I have always stressed the point about it being fun and a game. The coaching staff have always gotten a little flack for this but we still get a ton more parents asking for us to coach thier kid. Like Blade96 said they are the best of the best. Just being a part of the games says a lot.

I agree with Lupin1. There is nothing stopping someone from pacticing 8 hours a day or more on just Kata. I think that person would be pretty darn good at Kata. -
I think that footwear will have a lot to do with topography placement. Hiking boots, running shoes or dress shoes all have different grips on surfaces. Just to add to the mix. You don’t’ always get caught with you sparring shoes on. Up north we have snow on the ground 5 months of the years. That presents huge challenges. Personally I like grass for obvious reasons. Soft landings.

Hockey... did I mention hockey. Go Canada! Oh and womens downhill yesterday was tragic. That course was tough to hold. I just hope that those who crashed are alright. I find it sad to see those people train hard for years to reach their dream only to wipe out before the finish line.

Like Toptomcat said but bring fruit and granola snacks. Things you can eat fast while waiting that will give you energy and not fill you up. I like apples, carrot sticks and nuts for snacks. Everyone is different but stay away from dairy products like cheese etc.

Welcome Jeff..great name by the way Think of grading like any other day and just do your best. Good Luck.

Using weapons to compliment your training gives you a understanding of weapons and how they are used. Knowing how weapons work can give you an edge on defending yourself vs a weapon carrying baddy. Example: Training with a Bo stick can help you vs a bat weilding foe. Just my 2 cents.

I'm going to have to look at fight quest also. I watched the 1st season of HW and found it ok. The Silat one stands out and they had some things that looked they were directly out of Pinan Nidan for us. Made for a good Bunki night example. -
Do you just skate blade96 or do you play hockey alsoÉ

Welcome Daniel.

Why Are Martial Arts So Addictive?
Jeffrey replied to still kicking's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think most clubs become a family for us and provides a sense of belonging. We help one another get better and provide encouragement. After a while advancement becomes second to mastering ourselves. -
I think Patrick the question should be, what don't we play. We started back a couple of years ago to become more social during the winter months instead of all sitting at home on our PS3 or computers. Here is the list in order of most played. 1) Settlers 2) Talisman 3) Arkham Horror 4) Twilight Imperium We still play Risk becuase I like the classics and Axis and Allies for sure. We have a friend who collects board games so we always have something new to play. Do you play any of these yourself?

Yes.... A bitter Congratulations as well. Damn Colts really upset me yesterday and are now off my Christmas Card list.

Hiking - I have the Canadian Rookies 3 hours away so I spend a lot time there. Target Shooting - IPSC for many years. It's getting more costly every year so I have cut back a bit. Running - It's mostly my wifes hobbie but she got me hooked and did my first 10 km run in Banff last year. Coaching Hockey - My son started hockey last year and there was not enough coaching staff so I signed up and enjoy it greatly. Board Games - It a great way to pass the time in the cold with friends.

Trying leading with the hip. Have the kick strike the target as the hip ends its movement. Remember to have you back foot firmly planted on the ground so you do become unbalanced. I had almost the same problem and this seemed to correct it and generate a lot more power hitting the focus pad.
