Rank stripes on Black Belt Like or dislike?

Grand post. But on a traditional scale, belts are to keep the garments in order. -
Society is a "want it now" type. Microwave ovens, self service fuel stations, instant foods, etc., seem to strangle the preserverance of patience, perfection, and quality.

IMHO, this is a valid grievance to not succeed, thus lacking an attempt to further study something or somewhere else.

Yes. As I bet he wished he could have trained with notable others he held in high regards, also. -

Likewise to many things, interpretation is limited to those upon translation. In many instances, there can be different interpretations even from those within the same group. (Many Buddhist teachings are like this, thus a segaration of "schools") -
There are some "better" at teaching.

There are many medical reports citing detremetnal effects of ankle weights

If someone whom had learned, go forth and help another to learn, this is instruction. Althougfh not in a total higher level-state. thus, "If you can teach it, you have completely learned/studied it"

Bizarre grading requirements
RichardZ replied to moriniuk's topic in Share Your Testing, Grading, or Promotion
You cannot teach such thing to everyone-anyone. Proper training is a misnomer only to those who can achieve certain areas. Breaking such objects is no true test of fighting-defense ability, and many, no matter the traning, will not be able to do it. Besides, a bat, like boards and bricks are subjected to physics and material seletion. -
Sorry, I thought this was much of what I was saying.....

I have seen many females, not able to launch a kick. That if they had learned a proper elbow, eye rake, knee, close range stuff, they would have faired much better. As I continue to state, it is all situational-circumstantial. -

We have to face a reality, that not everyone can be strengthen exactly the same and in the same areas. We have to come to a reality, that training has to curtail the physical ability of said practitioner. That this should improve the individual, not what it should do in comparison to others. Simply, not everyone can do like another. If this was so, everyone could be atheletes, artists, etc. -
I completely agree with you now. Its just that some are not the leadership types. I have ALOT of good students that simply dont want to teach. And I respect that, but if you want to be a sandan under me they will...haha One of my instructors would state; "If you can teach it, you have completely learned/studied it"

I think it should. It shows how much force one can execute and shows how conditioned ones self truly is. At least thats what I was taught to look for in tamechiwari and machiwara demonstration during our testing. She favors the elbow smash, good. But she should be trying to focus on something more practical like her kicks so if she does not make contact she can at least add distance. For an elbow technique you have to be pretty close. I respectfully "somewhat" disagree. For many decades I had experienced and observed brawls. I rarely seen applications of kicks, pressure points, etc. Of course this is situational to the people involved and their environment. I would think a elbow smash woul be a more probable tactic in defense than many kicks. IMHO -

And less not forget the certain "rules", like "i" before "e" except after "c", which there are English words that do not follow such ruling. -

If you do not have a physical requirement for Kuro Obi, any dan ranking, I think that its safe to say that the condition of the martial artist will be weak. How many people with a weak core do you know, that can survive a full force punch to the stomach? I know of none. So for my students I want them to survive the fight. And for it being a bizarre requirement?...A push up is a very common thing that can be done daily without much mental pain...I would have to fight with myself a slight bit to put tacks in my mouth and doing my pushups...that would make it bizarre. Are we to conclude, the ability to withstand such impact, is a criteria? I have seen many people who cannot take a hit. Does this make them less applicable to receive grade or promotion? There is a term of a person's weak area(s) and this is called "Glass_______ (fill in the blank) -

As with these Eurasiatic languages, Sino-Tibetan, etc., fall upon a dialect continuum. The hardest language I have seen, is for people to try to learn Ennglish. -

Iti s not hard to find certain truths. The thing is to know where to start. The start of it is daring to do the opposite, or go against the grain. With the interent, it is becoming easier. -

I often wondered how can such translation(s) truly be accurate (no matter the art-teacher) when such language barrier, also to mention, slang-short language, is used over time. For example, if one would to transport a Japanese citizen from this century, back in time to another century, far back, could their actually be total comprehensions? -

same here. I think historians and book authors tend to built upon appeasing a audience rather than fact or actual data. -

Indeed, phonetically speaking Asian lanuages have differences, but are very close. Now this is not to state that each can communicate. The roots of languages intwine although there arte branches.
