  1. He may have a understanding which he prefers. I think Century and its subsidaries, have good products
  2. Can any martial art be truly experienced without sparring?
  3. Then, at some point, we do emulate the afore pioneers.....
  4. Congrats. I bet you feel "relieved"
  5. Personally, I like the types with a crank system. Or if he enjoys to craft things; My other suggestion is to find out what he may like and go from there.
  6. Nothing actually "stays put" in a gi. Afterall it is merely a training garment like people wearing warm-up/jogging suits or sweats nowadays.
  7. Thats it. The president of the US is respected among our supportive countries. It isnt a matter of honor as political gesture. simply, upon a visit to a country, many politicans are "given" such "gifts", which depends on the culture has to offer, in order for a plitical gesture. He the pres went to Obligee which made pocket knofves, he would get a pocket knife while visiting as a gesture from said country to show the rest of the world that they met the US pres. Purely political.
  8. Iti s not a matter of a warrior class. the founder of Judo, never set out for it to be anything more fierce. His purpose was to create a effective, less fiercing art. Taking preventative measures is what many are posting. Except warriors who do not know when to stop for health reasons.
  9. Because i have been and seen others bashed, even slightly in the head, which cause a temprary to heavy concussion, thus knockout. With these "mild" hits, a weapon such as a cudgel or flail would cause even more trauma. I am speaking in terms of ratio, force, and effort.
  10. It wasnt a matter of honor as it was political gesture
  11. really? I couldnt hide a comb in my Gi.
  12. In actuality, the hate is hot in the sparring as it lies upon one of two factors: The fear of getting hurt. The fear of hurting others.
  13. Judo, or any martial art is not a matter of a "warrior class". Using a term such as this denotes blantant disregard for personal safety and self preservation. Even a warrior realises when to stop and lick their wounds.
  14. Being judged by 12 doesnt necessrily mean that you would still not be put to detah for wrongful actions. Even if one resides in a incarceration system that does have a death penalty, one can be out to death among "cell mates".
  15. "Knife to death than bashed in the skull." This is a dumbfounded statement. As one is getting stabbed to death, the pain and trauma is far more severe and/or longer lasting than one hit to the skull to end it.
  16. Some may never be able to get the required strength upon every adversary-situation. technique is not only limited to strength, form, physical, but also mentality.
  17. This is a grand post. Weapons are preparation for self preservation. But the legal confines are much more harsh than that of unarmed defense. It can be argued in legal circles, why did a person bash in the skull of another with a flail type instrument, specifically used in the practiced of ancient combat in a class-art form, or why did a person stabbed another, repeatedly six to a dozen times. Or shot someone emptying a full magazine of 12 or more shots.
  18. IMHO, you could still practice-train in Judo. You may have to "favor" this damaged arm and perform less over-on shoulder-like applications and/or rough randori. There is a great risk with developing blot clots and my advice to anyone, anytime, anywhere, is to seek out a doctor.
  19. So, what one strives to do, is only upon a set path laid before them from another, and another, ... Such as martial arts codes, ingrained and solidify, not by a list of words, but a compassion of study
  20. We do want to be like these pioneers. Because they had set forth determination and achieved
  21. If you find posting here good, then do it. Hmmmmn This seems like a Nike ad or a phrase from Ben Stiller in Starskey and Hutch.
  22. I like this "Corrective Conditioning"....
  23. Is emulatiing the same as self perfection? Anything can be imitated, but is it the exact same? I would think, these martial art pioneers are more of a motivational inspiration than a hard core learning method.
