  1. I was thinking and about to post that too.
  2. Correct and concerning.
  3. You'd be surprised how many think this way. However, using advocatus diaboli, many of smaller persons have defeated larger ones in some fashion. However, again using advocatus diaboli, why is there equal wieght classes in many competitons?
  4. "Iimitation is the highest, sincerest, best form of flattery" Although many emulate a pioneer, and gosh I have seem many do so with Bruce Lee postures and calls, this is inspirational to some, and a bad impersonation to others. But then again, it kinda contradicts a statement on how someone desires to mold the student to what they think or like instead of the student.
  5. One thing I noticed about every Judo school I had visited, qualifying teachers with good lineages. Of course this is my fortunate observations
  6. A grand thing about martial arts is choosing what is best for one. However, one cannot choose their father. And, along the way, people are presnted with other mentors that they grow to admire.
  7. I think it is a step in the process; not much more or less. How many little boys state that they want to be just like their father when they grow up? How many do? Finding a good example to follow in the beginning is a good place to start. At some point, things begin to fall into place. Strange though, little boys may want to be like their father, actually wind up like their father in many ways.
  8. Well, champions of open competition are different than females who have used their abilities in self defense. Though I acredit all who have made accomplishments like Vu Thi Nguyet Anh and Sofiya Kaspulatova.
  9. Actualy, it is not the recoil of the towel that gives it the snap and/or sting. It is the weight, per water satuation and forward moment. The recoil of the towel, the returning action, has little to no power or attribution. Recoil is not the result, but beginning and ending of a launch sequence
  10. I heard of such slang in various culutral, urban slang.
  11. Ah, indeed, there are many good female martial artists out htere.
  12. What would being a female have anything to do with it?
  13. Terrible grammer or cultural slang from a specific area?
  14. Like I said, getting on the current "bandwagon"
  15. I would think, perhaps if a instructor gets really old, and has many ailments, then he may not waste energy and/or risk injury. Therefore either becoming awnery or more protective of himself.
  16. Grading is earned upon progress. Progress in terms of skill varies upon each individual.
  17. So, anyone of us, going to Korea, can recieve the same "homorary belt". I mean, if we were not into politics or celeb status, or public statyus, would anyone recieve such? I would think not.
  18. I would have to agree and state to study Judo.
  19. Yeah, I mentioned to this guy that his instructor maybe worried about getting hurt or "loose face" by getting hit.
  20. Well, frankly, getting stabbed or blungeoned to death, or put to death, in any fashion, is something I hope to never experience.
  21. What is meant by "How does it do"?
  22. I dont see it as a big deal. The stars-celebs, atheletes are human and make the same mistakes as anyone else.
  23. Some time ago I was discussing martial arts with another, and was surprised that he said his teacher does not spar the students. He said his teacher does not do this because he is concerned he will hurt the students. He said, the teacher used to spar beginner students only. What do you think?
  24. Blade96, has only being able to do 7 pushups, reflect in any way your training to achieve other skills and/or ability?
