  1. 6/25 Shoulders and Arms p90x 200 strikes makiwara
  2. Use feints... Kick him in the leg a few times to get him blocking low. Then kick him higher. Work on pulling your leg back faster so he doesn't have a chance to grab it. You have to think that the BB is also working on his own skills. The benefit is that it shows you that you are hanging your foot up there too long.
  3. How often do you do the knuckle pushups? It usually helps to take a few days off to let your hands fully heal. For instance, I use makiwara, but not every day. I usually hit it for a few days, then take a few off. Your body needs the time to heal the damage that has been done to it.
  4. So I made a pretty traditional makiwara post and pad. The post is a 2x4 with the cross supports on bottom. Wiggle room in the dirt and such. Not too flexible, not too hard. The pad is a bunch of straight pieces of sisal rope wrapped in more sisal. Basically it looks just like the straw ones that you see the traditional guys using. My question is: How the crap do you secure it to the post? I used some dropline for fishing. That worked pretty well until this morning. The string is starting to fray. I'm looking for some good, and easy, ideas of how to keep it on there. Preferably a way to take it off and turn it as well. That darn thing is way harder than it looks. After a few hundred hits it feels like i'm hitting the 2x4. Thanks guys.
  5. Its actually Shorinji ryu, but still VERY similar to the style I practice. I think this is about as good as it gets. http://shao.sakura.ne.jp/kata.htm
