I said court was the place to determine guilt because innocence is assumed. You don't need to go to court to establish it. It is up to the state, or the Crown, to prove your guilt. I don't know if your comment was prompted by mine or not, but I thought I should clarify my words anyway.
kchenault Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 I just thought I would point that out. Sometimes in America in today's age, some here forget that this is the rule of law, not the other way around. Thanks for the clarafication though Bart. The only court that doesn't have this burden here in the States is the Internal Revenue Service. There you have to prove your innocence. Ken ChenaultTFT - It does a body good!
monkeygirl Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 He's an American basketball player that was charged with raping a 19-year-old girl. At this point (my info may be slightly outdated since the only way I keep track of the news is by accidentally overhearing it) there is no hard evidence, just the testimony of the girl's friend who said she saw the girl afterwards and her clothes were ripped or something like that. 1st dan & Asst.
