glingglo
i think you're wrong about the hygiene thing - most warts are caused by a virus, or hormonal changes (pregnant women get them a lot). anyhow, i wouldn't worry about them so much - and go see your doc, because they're easy to get rid of. TKDLadyInSC
I had them very bad when I was younger (10,11,12). Tried for years everything over the counter, didn't work. Went to the doctor. Found out my body could not fight the virus that causes them. He put an acid type chemical on them. 30 days later, all gone. I would go to the doctor. In martial arts, you will be using your hands in different ways. May irritate the warts. But Definitely Don't Let It Stop You!!! 1st Degree Black BeltTaeKwonDo
monkeygirl
Warts are caused by a virus, so yeah they're contagious. Also, a wart is NOT the result of it "getting better". A wart is EXACTLY what the virus wants to happen...kind of like a little home where the virus can grow and spread. You should definitely have them removed. I'm surprised you can live with them...isn't it painful? I had a wart on the ball of my foot for about a year and a half...I didn't know it was a wart until I couldn't stand the pain any longer and went to a doctor. Warts will go away on their own, eventually....but it can take years. It's much better to have them taken care of by a doctor. My doctor used liquid nitrogen to freeze it off. It took several treatments and stung a lot because my wart was so deep (it was a planter's wart so it grew inward, not outward). The sooner you get it taken care of, the better! 1st dan & Asst. Kumite988
I had the EXACT same thing, a planters wart on my foot probably from walking around the house barefoot too much. It was right in the middle of the arch of the foot. (where it hurts the most ). When the doc said he was gonna remove it I was like, umm ok....then he pulled out this weird looking thing that had the liquid nitrogen on it and when he put it on my foot I SCREAMED!!!!! Well I actually didn't but I wanted to it hurt so much. -Edit spelling and stuff, darn,I shouldn't be up this late, I can't think
GrrrArg
I don't know for deffinate but: Most viruses can't survive in the air for any real length of time and can't be passed on by a simple physical contact, and with warts - they are a symptom of the virus and shouldn't be contagious unless perhaps they are secreting puss, and even then you would likely have to ingest said puss to contract the virus. My little sister has a few warts on her hands (mostly cleared up now), the doc said not to worry as they weren't contagious. He also said removing them could just irrate the virus more - although this is probably just cheapness on behalf of the NHS
