major_motoko
Hey Focus.. I don't know how old you are, but when I was going through adolesence (growing very fast ) I got chest pains a lot. It was very similar to how you describe, deap breaths were often painful. It turns out it was just cramp in my lungs, painfull but pretty harmless. As i got older they started to go away. I still get them very occasionally. The way I deal with it is to stop whatever I'm doing, relax my body and just try to breath normally. After about 5-10 mins the pain fades. I still think you probably should go and see a doctor, just to make sure, but I wouldn't panic. My dad has had many collapsed lungs in his life due to a genetic lung problem, and believe me they are sooo painfull you would definetly know if you were about to have one, you wouldn't be able to move from the pain. Hope it all works out for you. motoko 2nd Kyu Brown Belt, Wado Ryu Karate-do"Daniel-san best karate still inside!" Mr Myagi

gunit
Hi, I apologize for replying now, as this post was posted a while ago. Chest pains, especially from vigorous and strenuous martial arts, is a result of internal injury and chi blockage. Modern western doctors usually cannot identify this, as they find that there is nothing wrong with the patient! My advice to you is to find a qigong master and practice qigong. Your problems should be easily overcomed if you find a competent instructor or a genuine master. Chi blockage results from strenuous breathing and tension within the body. Yours is such the case. Be forewarned, is you practice qigong without the supervision of an instructor or master, you will aggravate your chest pain. Wrong qigong practice can result in the vomiting of blood and decline in overall health.
GrrrArg
I would also point to asthma as a possible problem, I got simmilar symptoms when I was younger fortunately the asthma has recessed now. BTW asthma cannot be cured and does not go away totally it just tends to subside after a while - but its still lurking..
