ad Posted May 12, 2003 Share Posted May 12, 2003 after excercising and martial art training, where i use punch bags, numerous different press ups including one handed, and weights ive started to develop painfull and weak bones. my shoulders, hips, ankle and ecspecially my wrists are hurting more and generally feeling weaker. ive been to the doctor and there is no sign of arthiritis. I do admit that i do push myself to the limit by doing more strenous excercises does anyone have any solutions to my problems? paolung Posted May 12, 2003 Share Posted May 12, 2003 i'm going to start with the assumption that you have been doing said exercises and drills for a while, judging by your 'belt' ranking. are you allowing yourself a recovery period? getting enough rest between workouts? also, check your form... if you do exercises incorrectly, they can do more harm than good. have you talked with your sifu regarding these pains? perhaps your sifu could point you in the right direction. when you say "push yourself to the limit", realize that there are limits for a reason. of course there are times when you can exceed these and push yourself very hard, but one has to build up to this point. pushing yourself to the limit daily and not allowing adequate rest, diet, form, etc. will not build you up but rather break you down... Too much stress on your bones right now (or any time for that matter) can weaken them. I'd recommend finding a physical fitness trainer at a gym, who can design a workout routine that is personalized for you. S/he should know what amount of weight will be safe for you. 1st dan & Asst. Drink about one glass of milk a day, and you will expect stronger bones. you shoulders, hips, ankle and wrists may hurt more because your perhaps exercising too often or not correctly, here makesure you do the workout properly and not too much, because the human body can only accept a certain limit. the human body cannot go on forever, therefore needs a rest between your workouts. also if you tend to feel weak, try to improve your diet for a healthier balanced one. e.g. vegatables and meat, more nutritional foods and protein foods. ad Posted May 14, 2003 Author Share Posted May 14, 2003 hey thanx for the advice i thought i might help you guys further in solving my problems by telling you how i got these several panes. I got mainly got the wrist pains from press ups and hitting the punch bag to much at the bottom of it where it is most hard, i got my shoulder pain from doing one handed press ups. my hips hurt because i have a dysfunctional knee problem which leads me leaning one side due to an abnormality. ive recently noticed a ringing in bones when repateled punch in the air and sharp painfull elbow pains when i do dumbell bench press.
