daryldolittle Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 wats is the prober body alignment for high roundhouses is there a trick cuz when i lift my leg to the side and lean back at a certion pont it will not go any higher there is no tension in musles is there something i have to do wiht my pelvis a trick or something and see all them lift to side to strenghten ur leg exerises the just hurt me and give me sore hips am i wierd or does anyone else have these problems "Best there is, Best there was, Best there ever will be"

It might get your questions answered more quickly, if we don't have to sift throught the gobbledegook first. Depending on your art form, it will vary. In TKD the legs should be in alignment, with the upper part of the body in alignment with them. The hip should be slightly rolled over to generate power. You should not lean back in the kick. Try to keep your torso upright as much as you can. Leaning back will rob your kick of power. Considering your other post in this forum, I would have your lumps in your hips checked out. If that is okay, stretching can help, and lots of practice. Talk to your instructors about your technique. They are the ones you are paying to teach you. They should want you to do it right. He can conclude as to what you need to work on in order to "perfect" that high roundhouse. Many variables are taken into account ... leg strength, hip flexor strength, flexibility and proper pivot (heel turned to direction of kick with toes pointing away)....
