bushido_man96 Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Great news @KarateKen. I've missed a week of training, and am itching to get back into it. 1 https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
KarateKen Posted November 18 Author Posted November 18 The gym is now closed for the next three weeks as they do some remodeling. Maybe I will get some of those resistance bands and work out at home.
KarateKen Posted December 10 Author Posted December 10 I'm definitely doing something wrong with my lunges. I am feeling it in my knees. I never cared for lunges, actually I hate them, but I never felt risk of injury before.
bushido_man96 Posted December 13 Posted December 13 Personally, I just wouldn't do that exercise. I'd stick with a regular squat, low bar preferably, as it emphasizes the drive of the hips and isn't as stressful on the knees as a high bar or front squat. But that's just my preference and experience. 1 1 https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

I've never liked lunges but did not have this knee issue until recently, anytime I do it I feel like there is presser on my knee and then it is sore for the rest of the day. Concerning. Maybe it is because I am getting older. *shrugs*

Tbh Lunges in my opinion are actually an important thing to do, because you are loading your joints and forcing the muscles to engage in positions that are less than advantageous in comparison to say a Squat. Thats why people feel stronger when doing squats, because their centre of gravity is closer to that of a standing person. Whereas lunges are (in a way) an exaggerated step. I have a shotty knee myself, but with lunges I teach people instead of doing a "Full" normal rep is to work up to it. Also being able to do a lunge, is a factor to preventing falls as your body is stronger in different positions. But you do need to ensure that you are doing it properly.
