I need a good exercises program for weight losing and muscle building for martial artists. That can include weight lifting, cardio and stretching exercises.. how many days a week and how many hours a day. I have a program already but I need to change it. So you may help me to modify mine. Lots of people have been stopping by and looking for routines for muscle, flexibility, toning, cardio or weightloss. We can only tell you what works for us! Without know your age, sex, what you want to target specifically etc.....one can only generalize...and like I've posted before, you need to find what works best for you. When you enjoy what you're doing and see the results (it does take time though)...then make it part of your routine. We can all offer what has worked for us...try it! Eat properly for weightloss. No brainer actually. Cut down on fats & sugar. Cut portions down. Eat early breakfasts and dinners. Plenty of water to curb appetite. Cardio ...I love fitness kickboxing of course cos' I teach it(3 days /week)...but I am getting my heart rate up while working on my technique in the process (killing 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak). Do cardio every morning- threadmill/running, jumping rope something for at least 15-30 minutes to jump start your metabolism for the day. Stretch every morning/every night (and after weight training)...martial artists know this!!! Crucial for kicking height and flexibilty/balance. The problem i have, is that i do weight train but i end all sore for the martial arts sesion next day, Is there a way in which i can make my routine without having to end all Sore for the next day. I maybe doing too much weight training, that's why i want to change my routine, Thanks, lol
KickChick Posted August 20, 2001 Posted August 20, 2001 OK...great now we know u are a happy 29 yr old male!!! About the weight training....there are a few guys here that can give you pointers on that....but if you are doing too much than cut down on the reps...try bag work (speed bag or a wavemaster for punching/kicks) Resistance training works the muscle too plus you add cardio with that! Sore is good...a sign of a good workout! Hot baths will help! (or sauna/hot tub) Deby

KickChick Posted August 21, 2001 Posted August 21, 2001 Very True Moobrack, Resistance training involving heavy bag work does improve overall strength, but also maintains muscle tone and muscle endurance.The muscles must regularly contract against resistance (the bag) in order to maintain its size, so it is essential to increase your workout regularly to increase the muscle and its strength. Somehow its helps deplete the acid build up in the muscle. Doesnt seem like it would work but it does! O yeah drink lots of water during your workout!
