Bulltahr Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Title isn't perfect, but who out there today do you admire/aspire to/enjoy to watch/would love to train under. For me it's Andre Bertel http://andrebertel.blogspot.co.nz/And getting more interested in Rick Hotton also. "We don't have any money, so we will have to think" - Ernest Rutherford
Nidan Melbourne Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Andre Bertel is indeed an amazing Karateka. I do enjoy watching his videos. Personally for me it is Rika Usami who is amazing, but if it has to be a non-competitor it would be Andre
Bulltahr Posted July 18, 2016 Author Posted July 18, 2016 Yes, a shame he has retired from competition, although he does insist in full contact kumite as part of his own training regime. "We don't have any money, so we will have to think" - Ernest Rutherford
Iskrax Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Rafael Aghayev is amazing! Short guy who won many world champions is ideal for many karatekas! You think he is going to do tzuki but in reality you are already on the ground by his ashi barai technique while referee gives him ippon. Luigi Busa. Strong, fast Italian who loves to eat pizza. I love them!
brickshooter Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Rick Horton out of Florida looks like an amazing instructor. His knowledge is broad and deep, and he is an excellent communicator. Found him on youtube. LoL
mazzybear Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I think Rika Usami is a fantastic Karateka. Although I think she's now retired from the competition scene, I love watching her on Youtube. Her katas just look amazing. Morio Higaonna too, a lifetime dedicated to Karate and, to me he seems a very humble man.Mo. Be water, my friend.
P.A.L Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I like Rika Usami's sensei , Yoshimi Inoue. He is great teacher.
MatsuShinshii Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Hohan Soken Shinshii, Yuichi Kuda Sensei, Kosei Nishihira Shinshii, Shoshin Nagamine O'Sensei, Shinpo Matayoshi Sensei, Shigeru Nakamura Sensei and Morio Higaonna Sensei. The person who succeeds is not the one who holds back, fearing failure, nor the one who never fails-but the one who moves on in spite of failure. Charles R. Swindoll
sensei8 Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Hohan Soken Shinshii, Yuichi Kuda Sensei, Kosei Nishihira Shinshii, Shoshin Nagamine O'Sensei, Shinpo Matayoshi Sensei, Shigeru Nakamura Sensei and Morio Higaonna Sensei. This is how one spells LEGENDS; one and all!! They've each blazed a path that many Karateka can aspire for, yet if one would remain quite long enough, they'd learn something valuable from any of these Masters!! **Proof is on the floor!!!
cheesefrysamurai Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I had the honor of meeting and working with Higaonna Sensei. A most impressive man. His technique is magnificent, reflecting the lifetime of dedication. Nothing Worth Having Is Easily Obtained - ESPECIALLY RANK
