username19853 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 So I originally had a meijin gi but those are just too expensive. I don't want one of those extremely thin gi's that make no sound (just my preference) so I need suggestions! It needs to be white, and I'm hoping to get it for a cheap price. Unfortunately as a college student my part time job only pays 7.25 an hour. Any links and suggestions would be appreciated!

Nidan Melbourne Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 The cheapest I own is a AUD$35 Gi that is from JOLS but doesn't make a nice crisp noise and that is a White Gi. My two other gi's are both white; 1 is a Tokaido and the other is a Seishin. But both of those make crisp noises but both are very expensive but worth it
JR 137 Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 My favorite inexpensive heavyweight gi is Ronin's heavyweight. About $65, depending on size. It's pretty similar to a Shureido K-10, cut-wise. Shureido's material is a lot better IMO, but the K-10 is a $200+ gi, so comparisons either way are unfair.http://www.discountmas.com/heavweigwhit.htmlPeople also like KI's heavyweight and Mugen gis for about equal money. I think Ronin is a bit better in quality, and it personally fits me better.Stay away from the middleweight gis; they're garbage unless you're buying a Shureido or Tokaido. I haven't seen every single middleweight gi out their, but I've never seen one that was good other than the high end ones.
Karate_John Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 I'm with JR 137, Ronin's heavyweight quality is very nice for the price. I switched from a Meijin tropical 10oz to a Ronin heavyweight 12oz myself and am happy. Goju Ryu - ShodanMy MA Blog: http://gojublog.comPersonal Blog: http://zenerth.tumblr.com

It looks great for a 10 oz. gi. Actually, it looks good for any weight gi. KI stuff, especially the tournament cut stuff doesn't fit me right. Not much else does either though, gis or clothes in general.I've been searching for a 10 oz. gi that fits right and is high quality. The only one I can think of is the Shureido K-11. At $175 it's out of my price range at the moment.
