HI all,

i'm wanting to up my flexibility training, I work from home so was thinking of getting a DVD that has a stretching routine I could follow.

I've got a kettlebell one I use on lunch break for strength development but want something for flexibility.

Going for Purple belt next week and my aim is full box splits by black belt.

really appreciate some recommendations.

Don't really want to use youtube if I can help it, would rather stick to a DVD

The one I like is no longer available. It's called "Ultimate Flexibility" by Sang H. Kim It is still available in book form, though.

Bill "Superfoot" Wallace has several good stretching videos on Youtube.

Try looking up either on Youtube.

My best to you.

There are plenty of DVD videos to choose from. Before splashing the cash, perhaps doing some flexibility research is in order.

Researching flexibility metheods from a variety of perspectives would certainly be helpful.

YouTube is full of experienced flexibility advisors.

From chiropractors too nutritionists till contortionists. Stretching machines too massage techniques that circle the globe.

Flexibility techniques and plenty of terminology to become acquainted with: PNF, ROM, Pandiculation, Static, Stationary, Passive, dynamic, pulsating, spindling, resistance, tension, relaxation, hot, cold, wet, dry, steamed, creams, pulled, decompressed, manipulated, tenderized electronically...

Or perhaps your original idea is better, to have someone recommend a good flexibility DVD

All the best

I have the flexibility express by Tom Kurz but its very similar and on the same principle as Bill Wallace and having seen them both, I can say Bills method is slightly better and its all over YouTube.

It begins with the knowledge that the severity of a strikes impact is amplified by a smaller surface area.

Just curious as to why you prefer DVD over youtube. I also have the same goal of full split by shodan grading. I'm 51 years old so it's a bit of a journey in itself!

I use youtube and just stream to the TV . Eazy.

Good luck with your training.

Be warned about Bill "Superfoot" Wallace. I took a seminar with him in 06 and, at least back then, he was a proponent of ballistic stretching. Other than that, his regimen is pretty great.
