IcemanSK Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 What reason have you used why you didn't go to class? Maybe it's not the thing you told your instructor, but it was the reason. (eg. "Uniform wasn't washed. Couldn't find my belt.) Being a good fighter is One thing. Being a good person is Everything. Kevin "Superkick" McClinton
Spodo Komodo Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 It became a running joke that if I wasn't there I had been attacked by animals. Not that it is Jurassic Park here but farm animals and wildlife can be mildly dangerous/unsanitary.I have been covered in liquid excrement after trying to push a stray cow out of a quarry. Had to go home and shower, missed the bus to class.I suffered a swollen testicle after being butted by a startled deer.An escaped pony ran onto the bus, it had to be sedated by a vet and the aisle swilled clean before we could continue the journey. Apparently the vet was in the process of "unblocking" a minor bowel obstruction when it bolted leaving a trail of soapy poo in its wake.Escaped sheep blocking the road, extremely common around here.

Wasp Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I once was already in the changing room, only to discover that the only thing I packed was my belt .. and training without a gi and just the belt on would be a bit too much. When someone mentioned a deadline, he said: "You’ve got a deadline. Well, I do too: death." He smiled. "It tends to insert itself into our considerations."
Lupin1 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 I skipped Judo once because the only parking space left was a parallel spot on a busy road in front of the building. I haven't parallel parked since driver's ed 15 years ago (never once had a need for it). I made three unsuccessful attempts before giving up and going home in disgrace...

This would be me!We used to train at a high school that had an awful carpark that was on a hill and an absolute nightmare to negotiate. The car park was always packed with limited spaces left, I've had to go in to training before to request someone came out and parked my car for me!! sensei8 Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 Wow...great topic...great responses, thus far. I've none to tell because my Sensei never asked me why I missed a class...ever; he never asked anyone...ever!! You were either there or you weren't; your MA betterment was YOUR responsibility, and not his. **Proof is on the floor!!!
Wasp Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Sumo wrestlers seem to manage... I might be a bit too light for that! When someone mentioned a deadline, he said: "You’ve got a deadline. Well, I do too: death." He smiled. "It tends to insert itself into our considerations."
