RAM18 Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 What are the pre-dan ranks represented by as far as the belt they wear?We have a single Pre-Dan rank after 1st Kyu which is a BlackBelt with red stripes like this:http://www.kataaro.com/Images/Black-Belt-1-Red-Stripe-340.jpgOnce this rank grades Shodan they get a proper embroidered blackbelt. That which does not kill us, must have missed us.- Miowara Tomoka
Safroot Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 At my dojo there is no pre-dan rank !! "The Martial Arts begin with a point and end in a circle." Sosai Mas Oyama founder of Kyokushin Karate.
Wastelander Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 What are the pre-dan ranks represented by as far as the belt they wear?In our case, they wear an Oreo belt (black with a white stripe down the middle). Canadian77 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 HA, oreo belt. I like that, it gives me a good picture of what it looks like.
mal103 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Maybe it should be called a Skunk belt? All of what is required should be met by a good 1st Kyu or they shouldn't have got to 1st Kyu...
sensei8 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 What are the pre-dan ranks represented by as far as the belt they wear?In our case, they wear an Oreo belt (black with a white stripe down the middle). In Shindokan, we've no pre ranks at all, EXCEPT, our JBB, and they're represented by the "Oreo" belt that Wastelander speaks about. **Proof is on the floor!!!
Lupin1 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 We also have a junior black belt that used the "oreo" belt. I don't know if it's technically a "pre-dan" rank or not as it's just the equivalent of an adult brown belt meant to keep the kids motivated and keep them from dropping out.
