I rolled my ankle while doing a side kick :(

It hurts a lot, so I went to the doctor and apparently there's no fracture, just (and I quote), "a very bad sprain".

How do I treat this? Can I walk after the fourth day? I'd ask the doc, but he is useless...

rest it, use ice, wrap it to protect it, eat Jello, spend a lot of time moving the ankle (not like yanking or walking on it, just gently moving it back and forth and such to keep things moving.)

I don't know how badly you sprained your ankle, but most sprains can be walked on after a day or three in my experience so far. You may want to use a cane for a few days.

Initially do R.I.C.E: rest, ice, compression and elevation.

Also take ibuprofen if you're doc hasn't already prescribed anti-inflammatories.

When you do go back to training, wear strapping for a weeks even if it no longer hurts because its easy to do it again.

REST!!!

Depending upon the level of damage, it could take six months or more to fully heel! No bouncing for a while ~ that includes kicks. Do as already mentioned, them slowly work back into full gear, spend a lot of time working on balance and listen to your body. If your ankle is soar or starting to swell take a step back for a week with rest and then slowly move forward again.

Rest, ice, compress and elevate. you would have a grade 2 sprain and it would just need a few days to recover.

some physios, exercise physiologists (my degree) will recommend you put your foot into a neutral position (leg straight and toes pointing straight up) and tape it up when you start walking to help prevent extra damage
