It depends why you want to take a protein shake some people just need extra energy and vitamins for a busy lifestyle, some people need something to refuel their body after working out, some people want to build muscle, and there are different types of shakes you can get, you just have to shop around.

They are usually smaller meals, and the protein shakes can act as a meal replacement. However, I don't think there is that much evidence against 3 meals a day, either.

Oh yeah, a multi vitamin, fish and flax oil, aminos, extra vitamin C and B complex, creatine, some capsuled chinese herbs, lots of whey isolate, and sometimes a pre-workout. They work for me so yeah the're worth it.
