BoB bArr Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 Growing up you hear how you are supposed to have this many servings of bread and how pasta is so good for you, but now the majority of the U.S. is overweight...I keep hearing about this low carb diet and high protein. So, would anyone be kind enough to tell me the big DO's and DON'TS with what I should be eating. I try to drink as much water as possible, but other than that I'm not really sure what I should and shouldn't eat. Please give any lists you can, and any tips, I'd like my stomach muscles I KNOW I have under that layer of fat to show one of these days. I have done a diet with lots of water, and very little food, but that is very unhealthy and makes me really weak...on top of exercising it wasn't too fun. So, any help would be great. Thanks, ~bob
Athorn4941 Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 Eat what you want thats my theory on it. Make sure you eat a well rounded diet. Try not to eat to much junk food. I think that if you dont worry about what you eat and more worried about exercising then you be okey. When i was in american boxing i never worried about coming in on weight and i always came in on weight. I was more worried about the exercising. Becuase peoples body chemistry varies so much its hard to tell you what to eat and not thats why i hate them things that come out in the news every once in awhile. like its bad to drink alcohol now for some reason its okey to drink in moderation. what the hell. just keep a regular exercise scheldule and stick to it and you will never have to worry. Athorn4941 Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 oh yeah here is a tip of advice THROW OUT THE SCALE YOU WEIGH YOUR SELF WITH. people that are trying to lose weight will exercise and then look at the scale to see there weight and 75% of the time it will weigh more. the reason for this is they are making muscle. remember muscles weigh more than fat. KickChick Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 (edited) First of all I moved your post to this forum where you can also access tons of threads concerning "nutritional advice" (I don't use that 4-letter word .... d-i-e-t) I will direct you to a post I made here http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3232&start=15 to another member regarding the topic of "Obesity" (not saying that you are!) Do a "Search" in the Health & Fitness Forum ... using keywords (diet, carbs, protein....) and this will pull up lots of info that we have posted! These 2 threads are good also ... http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.phpt=3630&highlight=obesity http://www.karateforums.com/forums/viewtopic.phpt=2611&highlight=obesity I am hoping to do some articles here on KF having to do with "D-i-e-t and Exercise" .... Feel free to email me with any questions! :) Edited August 6, 2002 by KickChick
BoB bArr Posted August 6, 2002 Author Posted August 6, 2002 did you just call me obese?! i can't believe i asked for some simple advice and i get someone calling me a fat ass. hehe...kiddin kiddin. thanks for that info, i didn't even realize there was a health forum...if i had i would have posted it in here. sorry about that. thanks, ~bob
BoB bArr Posted August 6, 2002 Author Posted August 6, 2002 oh, and really i'm not that big...just some out of shape areas...one would be the stomach, it doesn't bulge out or anything, it's just that it's there...and has a layer of impenetrable skin over it.
KickChick Posted August 6, 2002 Posted August 6, 2002 Truly sorry if I offended you! Its just that I did post a long piece on d-i-e-t which happened to be in the thread "Obesity" (but I did say "not that you are!") Problem with some guys is the beer belly and carbs ... very detrimental to the ab region. As a matter of fact I overdid it on both this weekend (a wedding & picnic) and I have a "roll" So.... what will I do? Lower the fat, salt (makes me retain water), drink lots of water, Special K cereal for breakfast, Slimfast bars for lunch .... eat a good early dinner (anything I want as long as its balanced) No food intake after 6:00!!!!Exercise (cardio) everyday to jump start metabolism. Oh! (... yes and no BEER! ) Will take a few days but I will be back to normal!!
BoB bArr Posted August 6, 2002 Author Posted August 6, 2002 no no no...i was just messing around and saw the "not that you are!" part...no offense, hehe, and I try not to eat after 5:00 normally...but that doesn't always work well when the stomach wants food. i've lost 10 pounds in the past 3 weeks, so i'm doing okay, but i wish it would all just come from the stomach area. no beer over here! carbs though, lots and lots of carbs. sigh.
shaolinprincess Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 Theres this diet and it mainly consists of Carbs, Protien and Veggies. YOu have fruit every once in a while but not nesisary for the diet. You just eat good proportion sizes, not haveing to measure exactly, then do exersizes. Its really great... It's what you put into it...1st kyu-Okinawa Shorin Ryu Matsumura Seito Federation
MuayTB1 Posted August 7, 2002 Posted August 7, 2002 well if you want to lose weight there are a few "secrets" secret number 1) water! one biggggg glass of water before and after every meal. and don't make it juice or anything , just good old water. secret number 2) don't even try to hard or you will end up at the end of the day eating everything and thinking lowly of your self. just make reasonable goals, such as "drinking that glass of water. secret number 3) eat 5 to 6 small meals instead of 3 big meals or even 1 big meal! god, 1 big meal! talking about bad health. also dont' listen to any of thou "lose weight when you are sleeping things. jsut use thous 3. got to go, "Don't think!!
