zalexia
I have a question, i currently developed w/ shihan a tecnique to improve my punch strength and speed, as i am a girl and not bulk, i have found that between the point where u are learning it and it gets better, it hurts my joint pretty bad. Afraid i'm gonna injure it how do i avoid that? Did it on my strong side, got the technique shihan was impressed w/ my punch strength but i went through a lot of pain for a few weeks. W/ my ms, my left side is weaker so i have to work that harder well finally got it right on that side now it hurts! doesnt help that i'm carrying my son around in a cast to help him get from point a to point b.How do u make ur joints hurt less? my left arm is killin me. Nevinyrral
Firstly try some ice and painkillers for now, and if the hand keep hurting go visit a doctor.Secondly, how do you train your punches? and which joint exactly is hurting? A style is just a name.
sensei8
Firstly try some ice and painkillers for now, and if the hand keep hurting go visit a doctor.Secondly, how do you train your punches? and which joint exactly is hurting?Solid post as well as solid questions!! My question...just what are you hitting? A wavemaster? A makiwara? A hanging bag and what type of hanging bag? Tameshiwara materials? A focus pad? A hand held shield? Also, with ms, are you more subjective to bruising? Please forgive my ignorance and any of my perceived tone of insensitivity with this question, that's not my intent. **Proof is on the floor!!! Jay
I don't understand what is hurting I would assume it would be your elbow but if you can clarify with us we may be able to help.If its a joint then R.I.C.E (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline. zalexia
seems once i've done it correctly and work the kinks out it stops bothering me but to get to that point. I try very hard not to hyperextend, find that a stutter step helps train me for that cause i step and i stop extending. Doesnt help that i'm hyper mobile and naturally over extend.yea i have pain meds the good kind for the ms lol but i'm the stubborn type of person that will practice til its right. i dont like being wrong:P.So til i feel its good i'll muster through it but sigh lol its a work in progress on that side. not really concerned bout the pain pain i can deal w/ but when ur body wants to favor that one side to work through it is gonna be a pain literally. practice makes perfect:(. honoluludesktop
If your joints hurt, you are doing something wrong. Did you talk to your Sensei about your injury? He is best suited to help you.
ps1
Being an MS patient complicates the matter too. If the ice and rest don't help, you should talk to your doctor and ensure that your condition can't be made worse by what you are doing. quinteros1963
I use on OTC pain killer and flaxseed oil. Give that a try and if it gets too bad see a doctor. The past is no more; the future is yet to come. Nothing exist except for the here and now. Our grand business is not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what's clearly is clearly at hand...Lets continue to train!
Jay
Hypermobility has one solution, strength train. You need to strengthen the muscles around the joints to prevent this. Its pretty common in ballet dancers and gymnasts. The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.
