My instructor's Belt

Menjo

Recommended Posts

After going through my black belt examination my instructor gave me a black belt from his youth, and in the end the only thing I can say is: I lost it after a year or so.

I Once got mud on it and he was seriously annoyed.

In fact its been months since this event and I haven't found the strength or the balls to go back without it, what do I do?

Work harder to find it.

Failing that, you can do something like demonstrating the integrity and courage to tell him what happened. That doesn't, by the way, mean he won't be upset. Just that you will have done the right thing. Remember, when you have chosen to be an honest person...dilemmas like this won't be an issue...you'll just do the honest thing.

Thanks ps1, it was thrown into the garbage by mistake.

I'm leaning more and more into telling him what happened, thanks again.

yikes. if you can't get it back you absolutely have to tell him and apologize. you can't go on not letting him know. he might hold it against you if you don't explain and someday he might even ask you!

you'll find a way to tell him...just reherse really well...thats what i do

Wow, that's a bummer.

I'm feeling for you on this one, and I think ps1 had it right. Oh yeah, and rehearse it a few times as well. Good point.

Hey and thanks everyone, I guess the only left is to actually do it, which I'm planning for next week. Thanks!

Lie to him.

Just kidding...Instructors aren't evilpeople, well most of them.

A student in my former dojo once lost a pair of sai given to my instructor my Fusie Kise (shorin Ryu).

He's still alive today.

ps1 is right. Accidents like this will happen. If he gets upset, then so be it. Listen to him rant, and then be done with the matter. We are all human. I am sure he has lost some things along the way as well.
