Throwdown0850 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 how does someone do this? it looks crazy! how does it not hurt? I have heard of hard body conditioning, but it looks amazing! You must become more than just a man in the mind of your opponent. -Henri Ducard
bushido_man96 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I imagine it takes some years of practice to get conditioned to the point to be able to do that. It does look cool, though. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Throwdown0850 Posted February 27, 2008 Author Posted February 27, 2008 could you or anybody tell me the science behind breaking ball bats or breaking in general? it seems like if someone could do all that, then it would break bones or kill them?? You must become more than just a man in the mind of your opponent. -Henri Ducard
NightOwl Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The guy did this (I think Jimmy) first try on fight quest. Like many breaks, it's more of a mind over matter thing I think. Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt
NewEnglands_KyoSa Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 It is very cool and is it quite a lot of mind over matter, as many breaks are. I do the baseball bat, well use to, i probably haven't done it for about a year. but you just make sure you have two preferably large, reliable holders, you have em hold it for their lives and have a whack at it, with your shins hopefully. i haven't seen it done any other way, so that's the way i do it. i conditioned my shins by always keeping a staff in my hand while i taught my classes and as i taught i'd whack my shins with the staff, and i'd also kick door frames. i have found door frames to be very helpful with MAs conditioning, i use it for my ridge hand as well. "Smile. Show everyone that today you're stronger than you were yesterday."

bushido_man96 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Shin conditioning is something that has been discussed in the Boxing, Kickboxing, and Muay Thai forum to great lengths, and you can find some information by browsing over there. Here is a thread to get you started: http://www.karateforums.com/how-long-does-it-take-to-toughen-up-the-legs-vt28547.html https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
yingampyang Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Well its all about conditioning your body , you body is capable of amazing things if you just train the right areas. I think that there is no 1 style , and that to truly become a great martial artist and person you must take information from where ever you can.
Shotokan-kez Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Yeah i saw that on fight quest to Erm i think i will leave it to the experts Does look cool though. Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
RealWingChunKuen Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 how does someone do this? it looks crazy! how does it not hurt? I have heard of hard body conditioning, but it looks amazing!I am sure that you will find this video clip interesting. The men in the video are masters of the Okinawan Uechi-ryu style of karate. This is real karate and with real essence, as opposed to an lot of "John Smith" styles of karate one comes across today.Enjoy. PS. There seems to be a bit missing from the clip, when the master breaks three wooden boards with his toes. You just see the broken boards, not him doing it. However, this is on the original DVD which I happen to have. Fighting arts that were not effective for fighting and selfdefense, never lasted long enough in martial arts history, to gain the Traditional Martial Arts - TMA - status.
