I've always bought crappy belts, but I want to buy a nice one- any suggestions?

Tokaido , Shureido, Hirota.

All are great brands.

Then comes the Cotton/Special Cotton/Satin/Silk debate.

Silk--Looks nice, ages well.(by well I mean turns white faster).

Satin-- Looks great, difficult to keep a knot

I get my martial arts supplies from kuroobiya.com

Service unsurpassed, and the guy replies to any queries in good time.

I'd suggest EosinPanther.com

They rival Shuredo & Toakido (sp?) & are a bit less expensive. And, if it matters, they are made in the USA.

I don't work them, but I've bought 2 of their belts & am very pleased with them. I used them on recommendations from folks on this site. It's worth looking into.

Cool, yeah satin and silk are probably not best because we grapple sometimes.

Thanks! I'll check it out.

For black belts I go with Shureido. I also think they have the best colored belts as well, but they are pricey at about 20 bucks each.

If you are an instructor I would recommend promoting people into Ronin belts. They are cheap (about 5 bucks each) but are very nice quality compared to most. Plus the colors are nice.
