baronbvp Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 No graphic discussion, please; I'd like to stay within the user guidelines. I was wondering if any of you change your "routine" when you train. I know some guys abstain, others like to combine activities, and others don't care one way or another. Any preferences, and if so, why? Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
lordtariel Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 What I've heard is that the lack will build up testosterone and aggression. I seem to recall seeing a show that talked about this and they said they couldn't prove or disprove it. Personally, I don't think it would make enough of a difference to worry about it. NightOwl Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 (edited) Well, the Spartans were really into it (although they were also into infanticide and other unpleasant things), whereas the Romans (I believe) did not like their soldiers having um, 'intimate encounters of the first kind' before battle because they thought that it weakened a man. I however know of no evidence saying anything one way or the other, so might as well have your cake and eat it too. patusai Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 It doesn't matter to me. No change. As for those who abstain, that's their business, but if I would have to abstain from one or the other...well...the answer is obvious. There, I think I said what I have to say without breaking the guideline rule...at least I hope that I did "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
Existence_is _suffering Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 From experience, I've found that if I haven't... You know.. I'm alot tenser and less agile (whether in a fight situation or spar)... Plus, there is nothing more painful than getting hit in the groin.. with... a full tank... I speak from experience! The first person to call me mate gets a punch in the throat...
marie curie Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Yes, avoiding certain activities can increase crankiness, but but also decreases focus. In studies they've shown that it really has not effect.also Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness 35: 3:(SEP 1995):214-217http://www.drmirkin.com/fitness/8501.htmlhttp://www.irishhealth.com/index.html?level=4&id=1067 You suck-train harder.......................Don't block with your faceA good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving. -Lao Tzu
