I have the same problem I'm not as bad now though I spose the best way I to take someone along with you that you know, I took my mate to meet someone I talk to on the internet, we went bowling and he threw the ball behind him lol

Just practise meetin up with people if that makes sense and be more confident with yourself:)

i think the best thing to remember is that 99% of people feel like this so your not the only one iv even met people who i thought were so confident but when you ask them they are really shy and have the same worries.

i know it sounds corny but just try to be your self and relax when you meet people for the first time ask them about them selfs its the easiest thing to talk about. sometimes i'll just tell people that i met for the first time that i was nervous going/starting a new club etc and people seem to be great after that because they will know how you feel because everyones been through it.

If you feel confortable in your own skin then others will pick up on that and feel confortable around you and importantly remember to smile!!! :D

hope that helps

The easiest way? Just go up and do it. It gets far easier the more you do. Look to see if there's a topic that you can discuss. Do you like what their wearing? Are they doing something you can relate to? Are you shopping for the same sort of thing you're looking for? Having a in common topic can really make things go easier.

I'm usually quiet when I meet someone new, until I get to know them a bit better. Then they can't shut me up! LOL

Anyways, There is really good advice here for your situation. The best one, as karate carolyn pointed out, just be yourself.

Don't wory about impressing them and If you don't know what to say just ask them about the things they like. Find something in common and its alright to have silent pauses. Constantly talking isn't neccessary and gives time for the information to sink in.

Hope this helps.

Brilliant advice Carolyn, i could'nt have said it better myself. I myself had the same problem, with me being a sufferer of a panick disorder. It was so bad i wouldn't even go to the therapy sessions because i was scared of meeting people! Thankfully it's under control now, mind you this was all down to my karate! Woohoo lol :D

hope that helps
