bushido_man96 Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 11/4/2013TKD Class: 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Basics- seemed like we did a ton of side kicks today. After our regular sets of step-behinds, we did a couple of hop-side kicks. We also did repeating (consecutive) round kicks on lots of the basics. We also did more stretching kicks and back leg front kicks. My legs were toast. Forms- Dan Gun (by count), Bo Chung, Do San (by count), Won Hyo, Do-Kang 2 (by count), and Yoo Sin. Got a quick stretch in between. One-steps- lo orange, lo green, lo and hi blue. Sparring- I was tired, and I punched a lot. I think I had three matches, and got hit with a crescent/ax kick in the head. Stretched after class.11/5/2013Defensive Tactics Club: 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Some bag work to warm up, and stretching. Worked some flow drills for a mounted person to reverse or escape to guard, and then person in guard would break guard and move to mount, repeating so that each person got to get some reps in continuously. Also watched to free-roll matches. Those looked fun! But tiring... https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

bushido_man96 Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Sounds like 5 hours of awesome, Alex!11/7/2013Defensive Tactics class: 10:30 - 11:30 pm. I watched the coaches show the Kimura from guard, then show a reversal from the Kimura being blocked. I didn't get to rep this one at this class. Then, we reviewed the arm bar, triangle, omo plata series, but took out the triangle. But, we did touch on the gogo plata here, after the missed arm bar. Also, worked on the transition to the omo, as I have some trouble getting to that position. Its a bit ackward.Defensive Tactics club: 1:00 - 2:00 pm. I repped the Kimura from guard, then the block/reversal. Not a lot of reps, but got some in to feel what it was like. Then we reviewed the arm bar/triangle/gogo/omo series, working a bit on 4 moves. At the end, I showed some of the GRACIE weapon retention moves, and was showed a couple standing choke defenses; one I liked, and one I didn't so much.11/8/2013Taught GRACIE Defensive Tactics for an area Police Department: 5:00 - 9:00 pm. The Chief of one of the PDs in my jurisdiction asked if I would be willing to put on a class for his officers, which I thought was a great opportunity. The Chief wanted the first hour to himself to talk about use-of-force and escalation/de-escalation with his officers, but the other 3 hours were turned over to me for instruction. I covered some basic escort position takedowns, then moved on to some punch defenses I'd done in the past. Then, I moved into the GRACIE material, doing punch defense (haymaker), and the stages from here to either disengage, or to get around for control, which leads to either another disengage, or a takedown unless they become compliant. I need to get some blue guns and tasers to work on moving to other force options from the disengagements. I finished with working on the UMPA escape when mounted, UMPA swim and trap, and the elbow escape, and then getting up from the reversal. I hope that the officers learned something, at least. The Chief there isn't crazy about ground fighting, but I told him you got to have a plan if you end up there. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
