Jeet Kune Do
I wonder, I know that the black belt is the Highest and it means that you have mastered the style... But, how about where you take your style to the next level, or is the Blackbelt the top level, I think that there may be someone or will be someone out there who is better than a black-belt,any thoughts? A drop of sweat spent in practice is a drop of blood saved in a battle.A person who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the man doing it. If a black belt means you mastered the style, how can you take it to the next level? Many schools and systems view earning your black belt as only mastering the basics and the beginning of your real learning.Regardless of how your view a black belt, or any belt for that matter, it's important to remember that no matter who you are--they're will always be someone better. Sohan
Actually, in Okinawan Shorin Ryu Karate-do a red belt at 9th or 10th dan is considered the highest level. I would venture to guess that none of those who have earned that distinction would be so vain as to describe themselves as having mastered our system. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." Shotokan-kez
Can't say much more than what people have already said. Gaining a black belt is certainly not mastering the style. Yes gaining black belt is a great acheivement and you should be proud of yourself, but training does not end there, it's endless. There is so much more to learn! Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
gheinisch
I agree with what's been said. Great answers. Achieving the rank of Shodan is only the beginning. The worst mistake a Martial Artist could make is becoming complacent in their training. Our Hanshi has been in the Arts for over forty years and is the first one to tell us that he learns something with every class. It becomes a "Way of Life". bushido_man96
Well, I really can't say it any better. Everyone here has made some very good statements.I will say this: Even as a black belt, I can still learn something everyday from a brand new white belt that is having his first class. The important thing is to never stop learning. There is always something to consider out there, in the realm of the martial arts. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
