bushido_man96 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Someone at a party or at a bar hears your into MA, and then you get the challenge match. I don't want that.Oh brother is that ever a fact!I metioned it in another post I just made, so it may be redundant. Usually is someone asks me to show them some MA stuff, I say "Okay" and walk away smiling over my shoulder. They usually laugh, get the message, ad don't ask again. Now when I was a few years younger, I was at a pool hall with a bunch of co-workers, and one was a Vietnamese guy whos dad was a high level Master in a Viet MA. He hadn't trained is a few years, but got drunk and when I tried to calm him down about some readnecks in the bar he got ticked at me and started boasting how he could kick me 10 times before I got him once. I slid my foot across and just bumped his shin, then said "you loose". He fell on the floor laughing and we all left and sobered up.You got both great advise and a great story in there! I like how you kicked your friend and made him bust up! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 my mate tried showing off to his girlfriend of the time, and bare footed he done a front kick to her, but aher natural reaction was to raised her foot as she was sat down... I heard this rip noise as there feet collided. My mate had ripped all the skin under his toes and ended up having a few stiches a the emergency ward.. he was out of training for ages... that was funny looking back at it now....

Ace2021 Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Last month I had to bring my karate gi to school,(practice was right after) and it was hanging slightly out of my bag. A few kids in this group saw it and challenged me outside the dojo with to a boxing match with gloves after I told them I was in Karate. (Unfortunately every guy in my Highschool thinks they can box) I probably should have not went to the challenge, but I was curious if my training could take out the simplest enemy.I didn't bother punching..low roundhouse to the thigh, and he couldn't move. Then I went home.Probably not the best way to handle the situation, but I was tired of people assuming Karate isn't effective. A New Age Dawns
Andrew_Patton Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 I remember my sensei telling us stories of how when they were young black belts, some of the people he knew would take turns knocking paper cups or apples out of people's mouths with 'chucks. Said they were lucky they didn't seriously injure someone.(and that it was long before people got sue happy)I can't think of anytime I've showed off with my MA training BUT....I know this is the kind of thing you're talking about http://www.midwestkarateacademy.com/yamapple.jpg
