Shotokan-kez Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Wow that looks fab. Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
elbows_and_knees Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 there's no capoeira in that vid... There are some elements similar to capoeira techniques that have been adopted by gymnastics and hip hop.
Jiffy Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Quite often we see athletic and acrobatic movements that look like Martial Arts. They look great on film but are about as effective on the street as laying down and saying "hit me" The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
Zorbasan Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 if you wanted to learn some flippy kicks in an MA, take up capoiera. before people say its not effective, if done right, i beleive it can be very effective. its done as a dance cos the slaves that developed it werent allowed to fight, but take it back to somplicity when required and some of those kicks could be deadly. Now you use head for something other than target.
parkerlineage Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 about as effective on the street as laying down and saying "hit me"That can actually be very effective, if applied with ancient Japanese secrets. Jiffy Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 What sort of secrets are we talking about??EDIT: Removed Sarcasm.... The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
alsey Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 fusen ryu students defeated the kodokan students by laying down...is that what parkerlineage is talking about? parkerlineage Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 I was actually just being a goofball - there's a real story about that? American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
alsey Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 yeah, you know how the kodokan people challenged (and defeated) loads of other jujutsu schools to show how good judo was? well when they challenged the fusen ryu, the fusen ryu guys just layed down and forced a ground fight and they won.
