Shotokan-kez Posted June 2, 2006 Author Posted June 2, 2006 I did manage to quit for four months when a scan revealed a DVT. I was placed on warfarin but later heamorraged so had to have a blood transfusion. Anyway my gp basically terrified me into giving up smoking, he said if the clot moved i WOULD die!! Nice eh? It did make me quit and then a social night out ruined everything four months later. Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
patusai Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 An old boss of mine, smoked like 4 packs a day, took his father to the hospital. As he tells the story, his father's lung collapsed and the doctor told him that the tar in his lungs kept it inflated enough to save his life. Of course this story was relayed to be after I was complaining about breathing in his second hand smoke (His father was indeed in the hospital). At that point my boss apparently found a "life saving" reason to continue to smoke.I am not suggesting that anyone smokes for any reason. Lifetime smokers justify their smoking in many different ways. It is not healthy to the smoker and to those around the smoker.
