NeoMstrSgt Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 What's the difference between a double end medicine ball and a standard medicine ball, I know the double end ones have hadles or whatever, does it affect performance or exercises at all?
Shotokan-kez Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 What are medicine balls for exactly? I have always wondered. Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk

BUCKEYE Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Sometimes during our warmups / conditioning portion of our classes the instructor swill tell us to get the "medicine balls of death" (that's what I refer to them as). I use the 15lb ball and then we partner up with another student and do situp drills handing the ball off to the other person as we raise up. We also do rotation drills by handing the ball off to the other student while rotating the torso, as well as over unders....basically through the legs and handing the ball over our shoulders. The medicine balls are used for strength, hand/eye coordination, increased cardio (especially when using them during extended jumping jacks), and definitely to increase focus. For me it is a love/hate relationship! Geng Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Have you tried defensive side kicks agains thrown 20 lbs medicine balls. That is fun lol
TigerDude Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Having someone throw one into your gut supposedly helps you take a punch. The problem I have is that they're expensive & multi-sized. It's like buying a set of dumb-bells. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him. You must thoroughly research this. - Musashi
Shotokan-kez Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 Well i have seen Jean Claude Van Damme take one in his gut from a great height in the film Kickboxer. How realistic is that do you think? Can someone really take that? Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
