TheAnimal Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 yea.... no. you want to break a leg? joint locks or weapons like baseball bats or hammers are what you need.
jaymac Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 All you need to practice hard kicks is a kick bag. Using anything harder without alot of training may break your own leg. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
Jeet Kune Do Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I was throwing out some chester drawers and a computer desk (to make room for the new ones) and I needed to fit them in my wheelie bin, so I put them up and I destroyed them into pieces with my lightning fast kicks (I have experience in kicking and breaking)......... I used it as a test.. and to make compact trash A drop of sweat spent in practice is a drop of blood saved in a battle.A person who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the man doing it.
luckorskill007 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 id say practice on a heavy bag, to build up your strength, but it also depends... what kick are you doing? just general kicks?
Cybren Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Well i guess you can get a steak bone or something out of a peice of ham or something and cover it in balistics jelly...

The equipment you use isnt going to make the ultimate differance. As for breaking bones, like I said before depending on your style, I know shotokan has many techniques to break limbs, so practice those over and over properly and ask your instuctor for help.I hope I answered in the right way... kyokushin_coe Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 i am not an expert on this. we are taught how to use our body weight behind kicks that we intend to do major damage with.learning to focus power through an object is how i have been taught. for instanceif i kick the heavy bag with a ushiro geri (power back kick) i use the momentum of my body and i dont stop that momentum until i have gone through my target.we train to kick through the bag.if a man is holding the bag for me then we focus on the mans spine who holds the bag.so we kick with enough force to go through to his spine.when we break boards to simulate bones we use the same theory.dont hit the board hit what is behind the board, this board is only in the way of your targetwith that in mind our white belts have progressed from one board to 2 - 4 boards.i hope this helps brown belt kyokushinkia
TheAnimal Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I'm going to go ahead and reinforce what I said earlier, that (except perhaps at the knee for reasons other than board-breaking related and so on) it is not practical to break a leg with a kick. In fact, it's impossible. The hardest kicking thai boxers in the world can't do it! (Maybe it's happened once, but if so I haven't heard of it.)
