Gi recommendation

UseoForce

Recommended Posts

For about a year and 3 months I've been wearing a ProForce Ultra Heavyweight 14oz gi. I use it about 5-8 hours per week, so naturally its showing some wear. I must say, however, it is holding up very well considering I use for my Combat Hapkido Grappling training, which is essentially "dirty BJJ."

Recently, someone spilled some bleach on it some i'm in the market for a new gi. Here are my criteria:

-Must be very heavy, or else be judo/jiu-jitsu style

-Black

-Keep the price under $150, please.

Thanks

If it works, use it!

If not, throw it out!

Pro-Force, Blitz and Kwon all do cheaper but decent gi. Maybe you could check out Century too. I know they get a lot of flak, but some of their stuff is decent.

Kamikaze Kaiten America - which is currently known in USA as "Tokon Kaiten America", due to the copyright problems. The best price/quality -ratio there is. Get yours from http://www.tokon.com

( https://www.kamikaze.com and https://www.kamikazeusa.com are selling copies of original Kamikaze/Tokon uniforms. Get a real deal, it'll be worth it).

Personally, I use Shureido uniforms. However, they're expensive, so I don't think that they'll be the answer now. I recommend Kamikaze Kaiten/Tokon Kaiten for everybody, since their price is right and quality excellent. Only thing you'll miss (when compared to Shureido, Tokaido, Hirota or other high quality Japanese uniforms) is that blue tint - and I don't think that it's a big loss when you can get an incredibly good uniform for a mere $100.

I read your post and ordered a Tokon gi. I also wear shureido and am eagerly awating my tokon's arrival. In your opinion, how is the fit compared to shureido. I found the response to any and all questions from the company to be outstanding. Just wondering how the gi wears, fits, lasts etc; from a karate ka on the boards.

Thanks.
