Ingredients in your JKD recepee

Personaly I like my schools system of trainig: First we start with JKD where we practice strikeing combos and trapping or we train with kali sticks then we move into the BJJ part of class where we will train either with or without the gi.

This looks like the kind of answer I have been looking for.

JKD is a set of concepts that can be applied to various art. A good JKD instructor can mix different styles and, using those concept as guidelines, teaches the various aspects of fighting: i.e. grappling, striking, weapons etc.

A good JKD student is someone who learn the more he can from this mixture and then selects what is best for him... after a certain level JKD sparring resembles MMA sparring (with much padding not to get injured), because everyone should use what work for him.

Yes, my teacher will generaly show how our different styles can flow together

We also have special MMA classes where we look at what we would do against like say a realy good wrestler or a Karate guy

We have mass atack classes to but i couldent realy describe them because they are for realy advanced students.

Off the subject Italian Guy but how long have you been studying JKD/Kali?

Hi, I'm learning that JKD takes elements from different arts and make a system based on basic principles (stated by Bruce Lee).

So what are the ingredients of your JKD practice.

For me (beginner level) those are:

Punches and high kicks (boxing, kickboxing)

Low kicks, elbows and knees (Muay Thai)

Trapping (Wing Chun)

Grappling and ground work (Wrestling,BJJ),

Locks (kung fu, ci na)

Weapons (Kali).

What are yours?

That's pretty much the recipe for all of the 'original' jkd guys. ("high kicks" are from savate though, not kickboxing.) some of the newer camps, like SBG has eliminated trapping and chin na and put more emphasis on clinchwork and grappling.

Jkd is more of an idea or thats wat was written in his book the tao of Jkd I personally take the things from other arts i studied and watever comes out through fighting or sparring is my jkd

i guess the mass attack thing is with multiple opponents.

Yea the more advanced students told me that you would spar against a guy who was say a BJJ guy so you would want to keep the fight on your feet then you go against a guy with a Knife and try to dis arm him the you go against multiple opponents at the sme time, pretty much different scenarios like that

Hi, It is since april, but I studied also one month in 2003.

In our class after basic warm-up (15-20 min) we usually do either kickboxing or trapping or grappling (about 30 min or more) then kali (20-25 min) sometimes we do abs work at the end (5 min). Usually the class lasts 75-80 min.
