I am 27 years old and have been practicing tkd for just over 2 years now. So I am a novice, but my question is has anyone out there had a bruised heel?? I am talking about the sole of the heel.. I landed on it very hard about 2 weeks ago and the recovery is very slow going.. I still have full range of motion with no discomfort but if i walk on it putting the slightest pressure on it it hurts... :( I am wondering is there anything i can do to help the heeling besides rest.. Any advice would be appreciated and welcome.. Thank you!!! :)

if its been a couple weeks and it still hurts or if there is discoloration you should get it xrayed. Heels can be broken. otherwise just icing resting and compressing it works best.

try to keep your weight off of it as much as possible. Get some cruches if you need to. This might take a bit to heal.

I bruised my heel last year and it took more than 8 months for it to heal. It is a very slow process as blood accumulates between the tissue and the fascia of your foot and you walk on it all the time, hence it stays irritated for quite some time. Even now (18 months later), it still "burns" occasionally. Hopefully yours will not take as long to heal. Good luck!

I have bubble wrap in my shoe during the day when i am on my feet and it seems to help.. I had a feeling this was going to be a slow heeling process.. I am getting lazy and out of shape from sitting out.. Thank you!!!

Heel injuries do take time to heal . Ice is good. As tufrthanu suggested an Xray may not be a bad idea if it worstens or persists. As for falling out of shape , there are a millon ways to exercize without pounding on your heel. Weights , swimming or just sit ups chin ups and push ups . There are lots of others . Get well soon!

I bruised my heel too (I am a skateboarder, I definitely know about heel bruising..haha) just recently and they do take forever to heal. The only thing you can do is wait it out, and get some padded insoles or gel insoles to prevent from hurting them further.

fangshi you are right there is no excuse for not staying in shape. It is probably a depression or frustration thing.. I am not a excersize nut so when I started tkd I found out how much i loved everything about it, I started really enjoying practicing all the time. Which in turn is serious excersizing.. But like i said you are right no excuse for it.. I think it is getting better though.. It has been 2 weeks now for sure and I am still walking gingerly but I think it is coming around.. I am suppose to have testing this weekend but I think I will wait untill next time.. I can always get better anyway.. Thank you all for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

You should definitely see a doctor and he will recommend something that will help you out. Hope you feel better.
