No way would this strike work on the body, you could hit someone all day in the solar -plexes and they wouldnt go down. It has to be a head or throat strike ... It could also be a what i call a "Bisep bump" to the side of the head, PAINFUL !

I see your point but if it was hit bang on the spot you wouldn't really need to put much power behind it. Its all about the technique.

The point of nukite is being like a knife. If it went with enough force, hell yes it would knock them down, the wind is knocked out of them. And if you wanna do more damage, then just add a kick or something. I believe that you are refering to the Nukite in Kushanku Dai, well, Bunkai doesn't always have to follow kata, just resemble it.

 

 

A Shihon Nukite wouldn't work to the solar plexus???!?!?!?

 

Just as one of the senior students in your class to hit you in the solar plexus with a nukite and you'll know about it!!!

 

I think I see where you are coming from though - nukite is a difficult technique to perform, but when it is done well it hurts - winded
