MY LEG HAS BEEN INJURED SEVERELY??

I was roundhouse kicked twice and then knee striked in my left upper thigh. Right below the hip joint. It floored me instantly and the pain was great. Over the days I began developing pain down my thigh, around my knee, my calf, ankle and the top of my foot. It's created a dull type of throbbing pain that's intense enough to wake me up at night, especially when I extend my leg all the way or bend my leg at the knee which is still painfull and very tight. It's been a week and 2 days now and I think the pain is finally starting to get better.

Does anyone know why the pain spread through my whole leg slowly over the days? Also exercises to help prevent these types of injuries would also be appreciated.

You better get checked out by a doc, man. Just because the pain is subsiding it doesn't mean you don't have underlying injuries in there still. I remember tearing the meniscus in my knee, and feeling initial pain but then it went away. You may not notice anything is wrong, until one day you move the wrong way and POP...you may lose your knee. Not a good thing. Have a doctor check you out before you go back 100%.

Thanks for replies. I know I need to see a doc for a lot of things :D ... I'm just trying to figure out why the pain spread down my whole leg over the days even though I only got hit in the upper thigh area.. I was reading about it, and it seems like a nerve injury?? I thought it was the sciatic nerve but isn't that in the back of the leg?? Maybe another main nerve if there is such a thing..

Yes, there is a nerve that travels down the side of the thigh.

If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point.

Well obviously go to a doctor like everyone said. But as far as what caused it to do that over a few days, people I know have ripped their calf muscle before and it doesn't look that bad the first day but every day for about four days it gets worse and worse until the whole top of the leg is completely black and swollen with blood, looks pretty painful. Takes a long time to heal and stuffs up your running for about 18 months before it's fully healed. I have no idea about nerve damage though but whatever it is get a doctor before it's too late.

the only part that makes me worry is your knee ,rest of it is just muscle and will be ok, if your skin is dark red because of internal bleeding it will starts to clear up after a week or so. but check your knee .if you had your weight on your leg at that moment it could have been transfered to the knee.

there are lots of pressure points there and the worst one i think is about 3" above the knee on the same line you got hit.

Thanks for your inputs.. Yeah pretty much my leg is good enough now where I don't limp anymore when I walk, but I won't be training for a while until I feel confident that I can stress the muscles again..

About my knee, it's really the only place left where there's pain. I feel it mostly around my knee cap on the outside and the inside. The pain is not nearly as bad as it was, so I'm assuming it will slowly continue to get better. It sure is taking along time though.. I wish I had health insurance.. =( Also, it 's the most sore when I move my leg after a long rest period. (after sleeping, watching a movie etc.) As if the blood circulation has something to do with it? :-?
