My first almost real MA related injury! :p

It's 2am and I'm bored! So here it goes!

Ok, so sunday was my 2nd freestyle combat session. So after warming up, stretching, getting some drills done, we put on gloves and did some kickboxing rounds. First round was against a guy I do kung fu with. Very dedicated and very aggressive. Well during one of his flury of punches he got me hard just below the wrist, didn't mind it much cuz right after that I did a low round kick at his knee and he wobbled a bit :) . But anyway, Monday morning I wake up and can barely move my right arm. X-rays shows no fractures, thankfullly, but looks like I'll have bare the pain for a week or two. So yeah..this is my first MA related injury, other than a few minor bruises and over stretched muscles (which I am really good at! :kaioken: ).

Now your turn! Tell us all about your MA injuries!

I was thrown and landed on my shoulder. I heard some crunching and pain made me want to vomit -fortunately i did not. Couldn't raise my left arm more than a few inches for a week.

Other than that some minor things like, sprained toes, fingers, ruptured tendon in toe, cauliflower ear, twisted ankle, hyperextended elbow, bloody noses, and of course lots of bruises.

*creaks as he lowers himself into chair*

Bad knees woresened by bad karate.

Nose broken a few times.

Spraigned neck, i say spraigned.. it hurt alot for a couple weeks and I wore a brace for it.

Various bumps and bruises and niggles and cuts of course.

Prob some others, but I forgetten them. And the style i was doing was meant to be semi to non-contact. Hehe. :)

Bumps, bruises, aches and pains are too numerous to count. My first real injury came in the way of a busted jaw, a very busted jaw. I ate a spinning hook kick and it turns out I should have ducked.

I sprained my ankles a couple of times.

Broken fingers (three I think)

Recently broke my right pinky toe doing grappling.

I also have had torn romboids (muscles deep in the upper back), that was a painful one.

Lots and lots and lots of bruises, bumps and sprains. Split lip in my very first Aikido class (and yes, I did go back!).

I've also broken several fingers and toes, recieved concussion, cracked 2 ribs, had several bloody noses, had to have 2 stitches in a busted eyebrow, and had 4 stitches in a gashed forehead (although that one was caused by me tripping and falling down the fire escape at the dojo, rather than an actual MA inflicted injury!)

Unfortunately my war stories aren't as plenty since but lets see....

Most recently, an elbow to the head gave me a nasty shock.

1 broken rib, 3 broken fingers, some kind of foot contusion, and bruises out the wazoo. Hopefully I won't make that list longer anytime soon.

Oh, and, back when I wasn't drinking water or eating right - bloody noses everrrrry other class.

i was sparring with a guy who is really strong and i was the only kid his rank and size so they stuck me with his about a 4:45 min:sec into the fight he dose a low punch and i go down i have no idea why but i think he nocked the wind out of me and then i have trouble breathing and find out he had knocked the wind out of me. this was my first spar in TKD him and i were whiteys and he was like 30 and had a kick that sends you to hollywood if he gets i a good one in(which he did so i would know) also jammed my thumb. for those of you have double knuckles in your thumbs dont let if happen to you :o i know i was a wimp but hey it was my first spar. o ya i had a ton of padding on and he still nocked the wind out of me. soon ill have to face my fear of him in my second spar :D its gonna be fun and painfull. i may sound weird but i like some pain in my diet.

what hurts me i dont let it hurt me again unless its a girrrrl

I was practicing axe kicks with a friend once, and we were using our arm to get progressively higher (started with the arm @ waist level, then abdomen, then chest, then head...) Well, when we got to the over-the-head kicks, I was kicking with me left leg, and just as my foot was clearing the target, I heard a most disturbing *pop* and my right leg gave out. I couldn't stand for 20 minutes and I continued to favor my left leg for about a month afterwards. My knee will still ache if I do heavy lifting (like squats)

(Ps, I made this really long since this is my only substantial injury)

  • 2 weeks later...

considering the fact I am a white belt, i have not had any real injuries due to sparring. The only thing I did to actually hurt myself was when practicing rollouts. Had to fly over 3 people + a trashcan (put sideways)I was more concerned getting over everyone than my technique, so I ended up landing on the side of my back and had a really sore back for a few days. No biggie
